Totally agree about the new Nancy voice! I will always miss Lani, but what makes it especially difficult to accept the new voice is that it sounds cold and robotic, and too perfect? It totally reminds me of AI instead of a real human being with emotion and inflection. It is like the voice actress went into this with the mindset of being a video game character instead of trying to sound real.
The part in the trail that really gets me is "A card?! And footprints!!" It just doesn't sound like how a real person would speak in that situation. And that could just be a scripting issue, but I just don't know! It's just a bit off!
It’ll inevitably sound off out of context in a trailer, but I agree, Brittany seems to still need to find her stride in this role. We just have to hear her more and give her a chance. Remember, Lani sounded ROUGH in the first few games. It takes some time!
@@ryanpepper8188 I loved Lani in the earlier games too, but I can admit it was still rough at times lol part of the charm of the series IMO are the flaws. That’s why I don’t necessarily mind flaws in the newer games, but to each their own!
The way I like to describe it is Lani is reading us a story and Brittany is reading a script. I know she's done really well in other voice acting which makes me wonder if maybe it's the voice direction itself?
I think, sadly, Brittany Cox (Nancy’s new VA) is not getting the best vocal direction on this. I’ve heard her in other projects where she sounded great (Fire Emblem 3 Houses). It sounds to me like they didn’t give her enough direction on how Nancy should sound, or like the team behind the voice direction themselves didn’t get how Nancy should sound. Which is just… too bad.
I share your concerns about the VA work for Nancy as I did with MID. I am trying to convince myself it's just Lani nostalgia hangover, but honestly I don't like the new nancy voice. Lani is just a better VA in my opinion. I'm going to try to look beyond this VA issue though because I am so excited to be playing new nancy drew!
I'm so glad to hear that others share this opinion! There's something in the constant upswings at the end of sentences and the dialogue that just aren't working for me.
Same here. I said it from the first time we knew Brittany was the new VA. I never liked her delivery and still don’t. But of course I will still play the game.
I still feel like they did Lani dirty in a misogynistic way. They kept Ned’s VA but said Lani was “too old”??? Way to do the exact thing society says we always do to women, HER INTERACTIVE. Gah… this company is supposed to be feminist in some way. It’s in the name. “For girls not afraid of a mouse”, but then Nancy is afraid of mice…? Seems like the team at Her is not working together or sharing knowledge about who Nancy is, what she and the games and the COMPANY stand for
Forgot to mention, new voice actress Nancy Drew is more like commercial rather than Nancy itself. I wish HeR make an update on voice option that we can choose either voice Modern Nancy and voice Classic Nancy in the settings menu.
I could never get passed making pancakes in midnight because of the new system, and I have no reason to get a gaming PC for one Nancy drew game, so I fear i will only get to experience these new games through TH-cam videos 💔

It is absolutely HILARIOUS that you mention it sounding like an AI, because this last year for work, I made a video about a Barbie AI character going around the workplace trying to "fix" things, and the vocal direction I gave the actress yielded the same result as Nancy's VA!! Nancy's voice is pleasant and neutral and sounds like it's delivered with a robotic smile, even when discussing something serious or dangerous. My BarbAI character did the same where the script would have her say: [in chipper tone] "This lack of efficiency disturbs me!" [smiles, unblinking] "As long as you admit, humans are failures! Hey Mrs. Kitten. A poll ran on FB on the Nancy Drew Game Fans page showed that 52% of people are buying the game on May 7th. 21% are waiting til it shows up on Steam, and 10% will wait til some reviews are in. Because of that, I don’t think I place as much value on Nancy’s voice as many fans do, so it’s not as much of a distraction for me if she sounds off (I have to confess I didn’t hear the robotic quality, but I’m also not a native speaker). Though it’s not unreasonable to expect quality voice acting, of course! I just felt like sharing this perspective.

The new Nancy voice actress sounding like AI narrating a scene is, sadly, the perfect way to describe how she sounds 😅🥲 The other characters sound stronger so far, though, so I'm still cautiously optimistic about this one in terms of characters and graphics. Graphically, it kind of reminds me "The House of Da Vinci," which is pretty cool. However, finding out that "Keys" won't immediately be available through Steam means that I won't be buying it right away. Not until or unless I hear that purchasing and downloading through the HeR website is easier than last time and runs on basic computers. I enjoy these games, but I'm not a gamer; I'm not gonna buy a more high tech gaming laptop just for this. I'm hoping that since the game looks so similar to "Da Vinci" it means players like me have a chance, but until I know, secondhand enjoyment via playthroughs it is! Since I'm sure you'll be among those buying and playing it right away, may the odds be ever in your favor ✌ Really looking forward to your eventual stream, hearing your thoughts, and this summer's streaming series!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! 🤗 And for so eloquently illustrating my exact fears about how this game will probably still be inaccessible to a lot of people because of its required specs! I'm so looking forward to playing this and sharing my thoughts with you all!!
Hey, Caitlyn, the specs that your computer will need to run this game are stated on the website, so, we do know what systems will work with this game. I think people just didn’t realize that last time and this time a lot of people are being very careful before buying the game. Also, I disagree that the characters look bad. They honestly don’t look much different than a lot of characters in other games I play including Bethesda ones, although, admittedly, I haven’t played starfield yet. I can admit they are lower standards than the older games. I wish I was a programmer and understood why that is, but, I don’t know. I think the standard for them may be a bit too high. Just my opinion. 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! 🤗 I know they listed the specs, which is great! My reservation is that the specs are high, which means that there will be people who want to play this game, but can't because they can't afford that powerful of a system. That makes me sad and a little worried because the audience is already smaller and this just limits things further. Hopefully I'm wrong, though, and it will run better than MID did, even on lower-quality systems!

Will her say when the limited release will be?
That seems to be their plan! It sounds like there will be more information on it soon, but no concrete dates yet.
@@WizardKittenYTI get that and I’m sad for players that won’t be able to play.
do you worry the storylines going to be too complicated i kind of do with the way your describing the plot in my opinion too simple and too complicated can be bad but too simple is the lesser of two evils
Yes, I do worry it'll be too fractured and complicated! I hope I'm wrong, so fingers crossed 🤞
You've said that you're going to blindly play on your own and not on stream, right?
My current plan is to do a blind walkthrough on my own first, then a review, then a livestream!
ooh im early :D
Hooray!
