The driving drums and violins give the sense of an intense battle sprawling across several miles. The determination and desperation of both forces.
The percussion hammers home the thunder of gunfire and the bursts of bombs.
The slow piano and wailing vocals highlight how utterly tragic it all is.
Tremble before the majesty of the Emperor, for we all walk in His immortal shadow!
Feels like something from Two Steps From Hell.

That is correct. This work far exceeds the quality of the work which it draws inspiration from.
I am well aware that the song predates AL. I just say that KC should be at least this good(and available across the planet) to even start beating back AL.

I'm hearing two different voices in this piece. One loud and brash, marked by the loud tuba, the other serene and foreboding calm, marked by the vocals. They keep going back and forth throughout the piece, both escalating in response to the other.
Or alternatively, this is the human and machine parts of the shipgirls warming up to fight. The beginning part, where the brash music plays, is accompanied by the sound effects of planes and rockets. Then that is replaced by the serene vocals, representing the human side of the shipgirl. Then the machine fires up, and so the human too increases in intensity. It's a slower ramping up compared to the machine, but it comes with the foreboding and climax of a thunderstorm on the horizon.
The loud tuba plays, as if to affirm that yes, we are angry and we are at war. The human harmonises and now the planes and rockets can be heard on the human side, meaning that the shipgirl is fully awake and in tune with her machine. She lives for battle and is now thriving in her environment.
Or again, this could be interpreted as the machine is at war in the first part, when the shipgirl is still a ship. She is calling to her former self, waking up the warmachine from its slumber. They go back and forth, getting more and more intense, until the machine is fully awake. The shipgirl is finally whole and in battle at last, as marked by the planes and rockets being heard during the vocal portions in the 2nd half.
Brilliant evaluations, both.
