Double nostalgia, Harley! Village Fete took my to my own former lovely village plus some super classic cars - and in rare sun. The topping was the crack, bubble and iconic supercharger noise of the Spitfire! Great day made more so my your usual enthusiasm, thank you. 🙂 Rob

Harley, thanks for another great post. The Monte Carlo brought me back to 1980,I owned a sister brand. It was a Pontiac Grand Prix. Mine was the "sportiest" version available, I was only a couple years older than you are now. Mine was white with a burgundy interior, it was a great cruising car, I was able to get it because fuel prices had increased dramatically and no one wanted them. The one thing that I do remember is that when you jumped on it and had all four barrels opened up, the speedo and fuel gauge moved in opposite directions 😎 I didn't care, ahhhhhh to be young again!!! Have a wonderful day.

An entertaining and varied video. Your commentary gets more professional with each new video - well done Harley! I think I have to agree with you that the Ace was the star of the show, with the Bentley a close second. You could eat your dinner off the super clean engine in the Marina! All in all, a super little low-key event.

What a fantastic event, there really was something for everyone. You've gotta love the throaty roar of the Merlin engine when the Spitfire did it's flypast. Very appropriate with the recent D-Day anniversary. The cars were awesome - especially the Bently. But I styill have a soft spot for Minis. Mine was a bright red 1982 Mini 1000. Although ir was primarily a city runabout, I did do a couple of roadtrips in it. Very economical and comfortable.

That looks a good and interesting event Harley even though it is a strange mixed of activities. Some nice and unusual cars there.

Hi Harley 👋. I visited the USA forty years ago in the 1980s. Cars were starting to become more compact in size then. There were a few large 1970s models hanging around. It was very strange sitting on the right side of the car, with the driver on the left and driving on the left hand side of the road. I can remember freaking out a bit. Americans are very respectful on the road , and only when getting on the freeways did they speed. I stayed with an American friend and he had a BMW , it had extended rubber bumpers on it. European cars do in the States. Very nice cars on display. Your dad's Ford Pilot fitted in well amongst the others. From Carl in NZ.

The days of extended rubber bumpers on cars in the USA are long gone................
