  • It’s not all in your head. Many people think they have “forward head posture,” and believe they need to pull their head back to fix it. That conception is wrong and can lead to serious harm. This video explains what’s really going wrong in your body that is causing your head to droop forward, and explains why the common “solutions” to forward head posture aren’t leading to better posture.
Initial Alexander Technique lessons are conducted one-on-one with a teacher over Zoom. They are designed to cultivate your ability to apply your rational mind to how you move. For more information about lessons you can visit my website or go straight to the creator of iAT, Jeando Masoero.

This makes so much sense although I genuinely don’t like the way you yourself look while adopting the “best posture” which is the one with the arms forward etc it doesn’t look right imo everything else k agree with

Is it possible to “over correct” the position of your head? If so, what issues would that cause?

It's certainly possible to move your head too far forward or too far back. Either one will lead your sternum to go down and your larynx to be depressed.
This is why I highly advise that people deal with the condition of their torso first before attempting to manipulate their head and neck. If you don’t have the support of your back and the fascia in your back, it won’t matter what you do with your head and neck. The problems people have in their head and neck do not originate there, they are the result of problems in the torso, and cannot be resolved without dealing with the torso.

Well, the title of this is video is “you don’t have forward head posture” and I stand by that. If you’re having trouble with the position of your head, have you looked at the condition of your torso? Your problem is not just your head. If your back is bent and shortened, your head will not be supported. We look at our head more closely, so we notice it’s a problem, but we don't even pay attention to our torso. I can guarantee, if you have something that looks like bad forward head posture, you have a problem in your torso.
To fix it, the first question is: can you spend money on this problem or not?
If you can, I recommend lessons in the Initial Alexander Technique. In lessons your learn to coordinate movements to change the condition of your torso and ultimately your head. They’re done over Zoom.
If you can’t, I would recommend reading about and watching videos about the Initial Alexander Technique, as it’s the only system I’ve come across that accurately diagnoses the problem and has a plan of action to change for the better. If I could give you one paragraph that would solve your problems, I would. But I make these videos because it’s a complex problem and it can’t be explained in a few sentences.
