You were searching for a name for what to put in the cylinders...I suggest "Magic Potion"...LOL. Welcome to the world of the 208hp Ford 460 and the world of the Motorcraft 4350 carburetor. I had both in a 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis. I never had problems with either but people have had a hard time making those carbs behave well. I can tell you from experience that those engines spark knock loudly when they start to overheat. A good radiator is essential. I think yours has a temp gauge but mine and many others had that stupid ENGINE light which was worthless. I actually had to have a band replaced in that C6 transmission too. It would shift directly from 1st to 3rd. I bet a good italian tuneup will help improve those compression numbers too 🙂
Yes, Magic Potion, I picked up a carb rebuild kit so will get real familiar with this thing soon. This radiator is junk, leaks all over the place. I’m looking at a 4 core aluminum, should cool better than original. I’m hoping the numbers come up after running a bit.
I have a 74 I'm going to bring back to life.
Awesome!
