I took the advice of this video to spend two nights eating ramen on the streets of Fukuoka! It was such a wonderful experience, and really can't wait to go back next year! Thank you guys!
I'd recommend going to one of the ramen stands rather than Ichiran if you go there though. There's also a "Ramen Stadium" located in one of the shopping centers where you can try ramen styles (like 40+ iirc) from all over Japan.
DTwo yeah, that ramen stadium is at Canal City for anyone who’s curious. I stop there every time I drive up to Fukuoka for teacher meetings. It’s a ramen lover’s dream.

My goodness, Ohoori Koen was one of my most frequented spots when i stayed in Japan for a month one fateful summer in 2016. It's so nice to see it again and remember it's still there without having to rely on elusive memories and poor quality snapchats.
That long series of bridges that they both cycled across to get from Honshu to Shikoku also has a sign like that. "There's been nothing worse than a scale 7 earthquake here so all is fine" basically. Might have been a bit lost in translation though.

My son and I had for a long time talked about going to a ramen restaurant for a long time. In 2019 (right before the end of the world as we knew it) we got the chance. We actually went to an Ichiran in NYC. It was a new but exiting experience.

The feet you're actually encouraged to touch, and put coins on (for this Buddha, I dont know about for all). I've been to this reclining Buddha, and the decorations on the feet stick out like a half inch from his actual foot, so its FULL of coins that people pray over and touch his feet ❤ just mentioning this because I don't want anyone to think he's being disrespectful!

The feet you're actually encouraged to touch, and put coins on (for this Buddha, I dont know about for all). I've been to this reclining Buddha, and the decorations on the feet stick out like a half inch from his actual foot, so its FULL of coins that people pray over and touch his feet ❤ just mentioning this because I don't want anyone to think he's being disrespectful!

Fukuoka sure has changed a lot since I was there in 79-80. I loved my time there.
