I am so happy you had Reginald D. Hunter on! He is infinitely interesting and it seems you got some good new stories out of him as well. He is my vote for a return guest next season or the season after!
Best line of any Podcast: "You gone bring that book?" I worked with him around the time he broke his leg, same issue with getting to the stage, he was so charming and brilliant on stage. He had a few tastey beverages then too!
Really like Reg's long dreads look. Proud to be an American when I see how he represents me out in Merrie England. Also, I am new to this Richard Herring guy, I am totally a fan!
One of the things I like about Reg is he doesn't ride the "fish out of water" thing into the ground, which, on reflection is an odd idiom to wedge into a the middle of a metaphor.
I remember seeing him on TV shows in the '90s. Today they'd be called panel shows but back then their wasn't enough of them to go by a collective term. He always had funny hair, like he was trying to grow it but kept giving up, because it wouldn't take over 20 years to grow those dreads. (10 maybe) He was funny but no one knew who he was.
no wonder he's such an enigma for the Brits. erudite and observant and completely entertaining on everything I've ever seen of him on Brit TV on Youtey
I thought this was great! I think Reg and Rich would make a good comic duo because they are culturally polar opposites yet have some similarities and that would make for some great comic skits or something. Yet they both seem comfortable enough to discuss anything and are both a similar age. Excellent stuff
So you're saying that because two people are normal and well adjusted they'll be a good comedy double act. Let's talk about massive over simplification of nonsense shall we?
@@samuelgarrod8327 okay thanks for letting me know. I'll just get on the phone now to let myself know six years ago not to post such blindingly obvious nonsense. You have healed my soul and made the world a much better place. Thanks for your existence.
@@samuelgarrod8327no,he clearly states because they are culturally polar opposites, let's talk about those who go out of their way not to understand shall we?😂😂
Does Doug Know? was actually very good as I recall, and hosted by Daisy Donovan even though Sandy Toksvig has since been called the 'first woman to host a British panel show'.
Happy New Year Richard. I am listening to this whilst putting a shine on a medieval helmet... Beat that! Many thanks for all this beautiful nonsense which usually makes my week. Best wishes to you and yours from Nigel and all the mice.
Hunter is always hilarious on the Unbelievable Truth. "So David you can say with absolute certainty that a wolf has never howled AT the moon?" I love his combination of slightly nervous, amiable gentleness with biting wit.
Reg is the man!So much charisma. Great that he is still in the UK. I imagine if David Chapelle met Reginald he would definitely laugh and find him funny. They both have a slow measured observational humour that appeals to everybody.
I hope Reg is alright, he was hobbling on stage like he had back problems or something. I saw him live just once but it was so much better than his heavily edited pieces on tv.
I presumed he was limping cos of his broken leg, having left his crutches backstage in order to appear "more manly" as he put it (tongue in cheek I presumed - as he is blatantly very manly & hunky with or without crutches!)
I remember dropping a gram of mandy on a night out and asking every skinhead looking cunt if they would rather have dick sized nipples or a nipple sized dick. Still got my face. Charm still about.
what happened? he refers to a second take, and the intro on the podcast is a but different. Why am I looking at this when I've already heard it? but it turns out I haven't heard it.. it's different!!
I'm curious Richard Herring, if at the time you understood what Reg said at 05.10. Although you laughed, you looked blank and said nothing in response. Reg said "Yeah, that was my British acting debut. Yeah, thank goodness not a lot of people saw it."
He didn't manage to get unfat or lean,I saw him tonight just over a year after this and he was still fat, godbless him.Hope you manage it this next year Reg.
"Yeah, I remember that phase, before serious white people started paying me. Serious white people like you to observe time." :D) So funny all the way through.
You say that like derailing the interview and trying to get it back on track again isn't part of the fun. Comedy is all about risk. None of this is prepped. The failures are there to make the successes shine. Get in the groove dude.
@@Herring1967 I agree, but it ended rather abruptly in this case and was a bit of an anticlimax. There are some times when they really work, I'd listen to you going through the whole book with Bob Mortimer or David Mitchell, and then times when they don't feel necessary after a really good interview, like this one or the one with Kathy Burke.
@@DaveRelph001 But there's no way of knowing if they will work or not until you've done them. And they have to not work sometimes of they are useless. So take the failures on the chin and marvel in the wonder of how well they usually work.
LOVE Reginald D Hunter - such an understated delivery with such funny and witty observations - he should be on tv a lot more!

Just found out that Herring worked with Stewart Lee, no wonder I like him.
One of the best unrated comedians out there
Love Reg, always get excited when I see anything he's in or his stand up.
'Man for somebody I ain't never really spoke to much, you seem to love me a whole f..king lot', did make me laugh
I love him to bits. We're happy to have you Reginald.
Great show! As an Alabamian, it's nice to see a Georgia boy do so well over there.
I misread your comment and thought you were Albanian, and mistook Reg for someone from the country Georgia.
I like listening to Reginald D Hunter talk, very interesting.
He has a very euphonious voice.
One of the things I like about Reg is he doesn't ride the "fish out of water" thing into the ground, which, on reflection is an odd idiom to wedge into a the middle of a metaphor.
Well, at least you managed to get back on the horse made of cake and eat it too.

I would LOVE to see Dylan Moran on RHLSTP
Yes, yes, yes!
Please yes
Great shout 😁
Would love that. Great idea.
'Its hard to get that far and stay dumb...' - still laughing...
Reginald could read the back of a milkcarton and it still would be funny, he’s that cool😄
What an organic conversation. Made me laugh out loud on my drive to work. Cheers gents!
Greater affection and appreciation for Reg after this.
Reg is such a gem.
Great show. What a great pair of guys. My genitals would also be an Octopus
Lovely listening! Thanks!
I'm only half way through, and I think this might be one of my favourites.
