This is a stunning demo; I have a lefty baritone version and i just love it. I wish they were making these Tens in lefty! This demo ESPECIALLY makes me want one. Great job, O harsh one!
Thank you, much appreciated! I’d love to check out one of the baritones. Seems right up my alley, even though the idea of a “baritone tenor” kind of confuses me haha
Years ago, my buddy set up an old Mustang Bass with "Piccolo" strings, and this seems a lot like it. That was a really fun instrument to play too! I tuned it several different ways-for example, like a bass, like ukulele, like banjo (DGBd), or in perfect fifths like a cello (my fav). This is really cool, it just needs a volume knob! I'd love to see some of these Eastwood guitars in person, as I have cold feet about buying a $1000 Chinese-made guitar. I really love the High Flyer that's available with a microtonal neck and an optional standard neck (so you can swap them I assume, since they're bolt-ons). But there's almost no neutral/objective info about them that I can find.
Yeah, Tenor guitar is a lot like that - lots of different tuning possibilities, but the standard is basically ukulele tuning. Eastwood makes other versions of the Warren Ellis Tenor that have volume knobs, multiple pickups, etc. The Eastwood stuff is impeccably well made and shows up ready to play. Everything I’ve ever gotten from them (even before I started doing demos ) has been perfect. I believe most, if not all, of their current line is made in Korea actually, at the same factory that makes Reverend, Baum, Puresalem, Schecter, and just about every other sub-2000 dollar guitar on earth. Where a guitar is made no longer has much relevance to its quality - there a tons of Chinese-made Ibanez that are absolutely perfect, and my Indonesian Squier Bass VI is one of my favorite instruments ever. Also, I believe Eastwood has a no-strings-attached try out policy if you’re interested, but hesitant to buy online. Check out their website. Anyway, thanks for checking out the demo! I appreciate it
Awesome. I typically list every piece of gear I use in the video description. My main rig is a Traynor YBA-1 head and a Traynor TS50B head. I run both simultaneously through a stereo 4x12 cab for most guitar things. Thanks for checking out the vid!
Thanks! Signal chain is Eastwood Ten Tenor -> Valco KGB fuzz -> DOD FX-17 wah -> Alexander Pedals Space Force reverb -> Traynor YBA-1 head -> 4x12 cab w/ Celestion G12h speakers. Same chain for the whole vid
What's the tuning: A, D, G, B? What's the on/off switch for (I understand that it cuts of the pickup but why would I want that)? Do you notice the shorter scale in any way?
Thanks! There are lots of different ways to tune it, but I used the standard fifths tuning GDAE. Obviously it’s a whole different instrument than guitar, but I found it very easy to navigate by ear, and the scale length felt very natural. So the idea is that it’s a very stripped down noise machine - no volume or tone, just two types of on/off, momentary kill switch and latching. The kill switch is for fun and artistic purposes, the on/off is because sometimes you need to be able to mute it. The lack of vol and tone pots+circuitry provides a direct connection between pickup and amp - it’s a noticeably different, livelier sound and feel
@@HarshTonesInc I'm not a target audience for this guitar but I do find it fascinating. To me it would be a solo instrument: I rarely use the E strings when I improvise. The on/off switch still seems like bullshit to me. When I want to mute my guitar, I use my hand, dial down the volume or unplug it. If that's too noisy, then I'd get a cable with a mute button. But anyway. What strings do you use? Two wound and two unwound strings?
@@CaesarTjalbo Well nobody’s making you use the on/off switch, just use your hand or whatever if you want. I never use tone knobs, but they keep putting them on guitars anyway. Yeah, it’s two wound and two unwound strings, at least in the configuration I used.
@@HarshTonesInc Dude, I don't blame you for the on/off switch, of course. It just seems so completely ridiculous to me to design a pared down shred machine with nothing but the essentials and then add an on/off switch for shits and giggles. I play a telecaster, I'm quite happy with a tone knob to tame the bridge pickup
Yeah I’d have to agree with Harsh Tones, Inc. I have owned several Eastwoods over the years and still do. I have never seen any flaws in any of the instruments I’ve gotten. Don’t mean to do a commercial for Eastwood but they are, across the board, very fine and nicely crafted instruments. As far as the price, if you can get something like this for under a grand? Very nice price. Plus Eastwood is notorious for great sales so be on the lookout.
@@billycjustice This is true. I’ve owned and demo’d a number of Eastwoods and they’re flawless out of the box. And yeah, they frequently offer very generous discounts
Nice sensitive BADASS BASS
Bought one as I learnt on ukuleles. Restrung it to DGBE like a baritone uke. Great fun to play and with others.
It’s a really fun instrument!

Eastwood should send you a check. That was gnarly af!
Hahaha, thank you! They took care of me 😉
Man, your demos are absolutely fantastic! I look forward to every one!
Thanks! Much appreciated. 🤘🏼
So damn rad! I gotta get one of these.👍🤘
You’d dig it, man! Right up your alley
This sounds and looks so cool. Nice one. Think I might need a Tenor.
Thank you! It’s in insanely fun instrument. Highly recommended
It looks like I will be on to a new guitar experience .....
The on/off switch is for when you put it down, to prevent feedback, if you want to, isn't it?
Correct!

@@HarshTonesInc No problem, thanks for the rundown. Have a good one!
I would love to know more about your rig. You’re doing a lot of what I am aiming for with my guitar efforts, tenor and otherwise.

Damnit man! I don’t have the room for another instrument. Now, what to get rid of…
It’s worth making room for!
amazing.! which pedals/amp are you using for the sound in the first half of the video?

Under a grand is pretty reasonable, really. It’s a spectacularly well made instrument.
