As a Wedding DJ, we recently purchased the Jackery Explorer 1000 Portable Power Station (with South African Plugs) to use for a wedding ceremony where there is no electricity power available, or would require us to run very long extension leads. In this video I share with you the unboxing, my observations and testing of the Jackery 1000 as well as my review. We wanted to see how well it would power a typical wedding ceremony setup and I must say I was very impressed. When I get the opportunity I intend to test this portable power station using a typical small mobile wedding DJ setup for a wedding reception using 2 x 15" speakers, a Pioneer DDJ-SZ2 mixer, a Yamaha MG12XU 12 mixer and 4 x Chauvet DJ SlimPAR Q12 USB RGBA Par LED Lights. The goal here will be to find out how long it can power this wedding reception setup ? Unfortunately we have regular loadshedding here in South Africa where areas are loadshedded (rolling blackouts) for around two hours at a time. I intend posting another video of the results of this test for you wedding DJs and those brides and grooms getting married.

Hi Ashlen. The Jackery has been a lifesaver and saved many a wedding and party, I can highly recommend it. I've been able to push just over four hours on it if I'm using my 15" Presonus speakers.

Just wanted to follow up if you had the opportunity to do a small setup. And how long it had lasted with what type of setup.

Hi DJ Revuleo. I have done both a small and medium reception setup using my DJ controller, external mixer, 2 x15" Presonus AIR tops and 8 LED Par Cans. I've been turning the sub cab off and the moving head lights as they are big power draws. For weddings receptions, up to around 100 people, I have managed to get through a 4 hour loadshedding. Ceremonies and cocktail are not heavy draws and I often only end up using 20-25% of the battery - even playing a 2 hour cocktail session. Not sure where you are but here in South Africa we work on 50Hz and 240V power and the above relates to these power draws.

@@djbrentsa thank you for your quick response. I’m in NY and have been doing some research trying to to see what would fit my needs as I have been getting more weddings that want outdoor spaces. I have Recently picked up some battery powered speakers and SKAA wireless transmitters/receiver but hoping to be fully battery with laptop and controller maybe even an additional speaker.
Thank you for your breakdown as it will help with my further research.

@@djrevuleonice I’m in nyc I can tell you the skaa the best thing since sliced bread. lol. With the 1500 u can easily get close to 3 1/2 -5 1/2 (if keeping laptop plugged in or controller plugged in)the trick is too get a controller that don’t use power me I still use my sb3. Or prime go So that u don’t draw power from the laptop and I use battery speakers. Everest 8 and have spare batteries. Which I can get 8 hours on full blast. So the only thing that’s running on the generator is the controller or when I’m charging the prime go The skaa receiver -transmitter u gonna get about 8-12 hours without charging So with that said if u get a controller that runs off ur laptop or have prime go. I can really extend it

@@donaldccannon1 awesome thank you. I’m definitely looking at possibly picking up the 2000. Just cause my laptop battery isn’t the best so I might have to be plugged in half the time. I have two battery powered speakers with my SOUNDBOKS and everse 8. But I like my 1000 and Flx10. So have to go bigger jackets to do back to back sets with some buddies.
