- I've been talking about it for ages, but finally a Shelby GT500 has joined the my garage! Auto Tempest has made it easy to find my first American muscle car, and the first US Shmeemobile, bringing together all of the options into one place: www.autotempest.com/?...
With the Ford GT and Heritage Focus RS holding permanent spots in my garage at home, I've long been keen to add the ultimate brute to the garage to pull the supercar, hot hatch and muscle car together. From the initial reveal through to my first drive of the Shelby GT500 in Las Vegas just over a year ago, the plan was always to make it happen whereby the car will be used int he US for some trips before eventually exporting and importing it to the UK to join my collection.
Like all Shmeemobiles, I've been very specific as to the options that I'm after; from the Carbon Fibre Track Package being an absolute must (with the large wing, carbon wheels, rear seat delete and splitter wickers) through to finding a bright colour. Then in stepped Auto Tempest to help with the search and support the latest arrival!
Having come across Auto Tempest from the fantastic Car Trek series with Freddy (Tavarish), Ed (VINwiki) and Tyler (Hoovie's Garage), it's been the perfect resource for these purposes. Being able to browse through cars available in the US and Canada over the last few weeks from across the biggest sites, using filters to hone it down to exactly my choices has made finding this car brilliantly easy.

With delivery day arriving, the car is transported down from a dealer in North Carolina to be delivered to me at Ikonick, the home of Barry Skolnick's private collection. A garage which itself also now features some new arrivals in the form of a Ruf CTR3, Jaguar E-Type and a visiting Ferrari Monza SP2. / ikonickmotors
The plans ahead for my GT500 include a visit to receive PPF and stripes before a full scale adventure across the USA heading from Florida, via Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisana, Texas, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and into California. You can bet there are some big things in the works and some great videos to come, while the car cements a spot as a permanent Shmeemobile along the way!

Him, Tavarish, Drag Times and Autotopia are probably the most down to earth humble channels. Some of the others are too much like the Paul brothers for me.
Tim congrats on the car, it looks absolutely amazing in that lime green! In fact if I were to spec a GT500 this is exactly how I would do it as well it looks absolutely amazing, plus this is one of my dream mustangs next to the GT350.

I watched a video and I believe they said that the us Mustangs are different to the uk ones cause of the hood being raised a tad which is against regulations in the uk and the fact that the engine produces more emissions than the uk one

@@Shmee150 you should have gone for black/lime calipers and the sticker stripes, then it would have been perfect, red calipers don't go with green car

I’ve seen the new GT500 at the 2020 Philly Auto Show and I was just blown away at how large the exhausts were!
Congrats Tim... another great video, another great tour (and welcome back to the US... always love the visits!) and on the latest addition to the stable.
Thinking back to your last visit with the GT, I did have one small suggestion - given your plan to actually "tour" the states together with it's rather modest 16 gallon fuel tank, might not the addition of a small 5 gallon (18L) fuel cell be a worthwhile investment? Purpose built and high quality options are widely and easily available, and are neither expensive or difficult to install. Best of all, this simple modification offers a number of advantages in addition to acting as range-extender (which will also almost certainly make track days much more fun). Looking forward to the rest of ShmeeTour-2021!

After driving some gt mustangs at work I can say a gt350 of this generation is my dream car! The handling was better than stuff that costs more. Lime greens are also my favorite color on automobiles good choice stoked for more videos on it!

Congrats Tim! I think you made the absolute best choice in color! Just sets that beast off! I previously owned the 2014 GT500. Blue with white stripes. 6 speed manual. But living here in Maryland, there wasn’t a lot of places to put the power down. I can not wait to see that monster on the Autobahn!! Again, awesome new acquisition!! I love it. I have made the drive from FL to CA several times. I know you have some stops planned but winter weather might be a factor, especially in a rear drive car with wide tires. I strongly suggest you research the weather along your route. In Iowa they close the freeway when it snows and Utah and Colorado are higher elevation and are worse as to snow and ice. If you go north from Miami up to Jacksonville FL and turn left on I-10 you can go from east coast beach to west coast beach in warm weather. Of course if you are going to be going later in the year it will be fine farther north. Have fun and stay safe.

I am a simple man. I see a Shmee video, I watch and hit like. You gotta give it to this man right here. He came back to the US and this has to be one of the first things he did because it took a week or so to get to film it. I can't imagine the thought processes going on in Shmee's brain on a daily basis. All the planning and scheduling to line up stuff to keep us entertained. Cheers my brother.

Looking forward to it as well. I've heard that a number of American / Canadian enthusiasts who've toured their big displacement muscle cars have had some luck tracking their cars in Europe with the simple addition of downward facing exhaust tips and "strategic" throttle application in monitored zones. Lap times might not set records, but the fun factor will likely be off the charts. Hope will get to see the GT500 at multiple venues throughout Europe soon!
