I make this often with some variation. Learnt from my mother. She grinds chillies with the dal+rice. Before making, she adds bits of more milagai to the tadka and adds to the batter. Quick fix method- mux left over idli/dosa maavu and onion less adai maavu, ferment and add tadka and make.
