Downhill sections would increase the speed of the fly wheel, and then you could use the stored energy to pull away faster later.

The team's can't individually develop as it's seen as unfair advantage (see Mercedes DAS from 2020). They gotta wait for the FiA to have entire new reg changes so the whole grid benefits from the same upgrades.
Remember when McLaren had the third pedal. Renault used the fly wheel. Williams had super advanced suspension that would predict the needed angle for grip around a track and tilt the car.
All really great advancements that if became normalised and not banned would have a sport that is very very different and one that I think would be more interesting.

Hello there! Now you're talking about flywheel stuff. Could you PLEASE 🙏 make a video about how flywheel weight affects acceleration of a car, and how much difference between a car with 10 kg flywheel vs car with 8 kg flywheel but with 2 kg extra in the trunk for example? I'd like to know how much effect it has because I'm planning to reduce the weight of my little tracktoy as well and I'd like to know 😇 keep up the good (and interesting!) work! (if possible, could you test it on a powerful sportscar but also on small cars to represent my 1.1 60 hp/800 kg tracktoy. You're amazing 😙)

I remember when flywheel hybrids were briefly used in endurance rating, and even with a vague understanding of the energies involved I always found them terrifying.
There's just no way to safely dispose of the energy contained in case of an accident, so now you're left with a rapidly spinning, possibly damaged, probably no longer securely mounted disk of waiting-to-be-shrapnel that contains the energy of a bomb.
Think of an uncontained jet engine failure like the 777 ones we had recently, but you're sitting right next to it instead of half an airliner's wing away. 😱

Because the engine still makes roughly the amount of power as the engine with the light flywheel. the only difference is that because the flywheel is heavier it takes more power to rev the engine but once it reaches the desired rpm the only useable advantage is the amount of extra momentum and torque it has. It most likely wouldn’t even accelerate up a small hill if you put it in gear and tried accelerating.

Most conveyances include the Tow/Haul option, and it's utilized when towing a trailer or hauling a cumbersome hefty load. it 's especially utilizable in hilly or mountainous terrain. When the motive force engages the button, it'll electronically alter the gear ratio change point of the transmission to a lower setting. Optically discerning this example he's put himself in, I do not quite understand why he didn't put it into low drive mode. His goal is to bring it over Capitol Hill, right? Utilizing the tow/haul option increases the RPMs of the engine, so it ends up in a better utilization of fuel. Low hauling should've been conveyance as it has way more power when utilizing it to climb and avails to stay under better control when taking place the incline. perfect mode for this case, no? By all means correct me if I'm wrong xd
