Kirk Gibson (yes, THAT Kirk Gibson) played in this game. He played football at Michigan State as well as baseball. Guglielmi also wore number 3 when he played at ND.
Yup, both Rick Leach and him were excellent two sport athletes.
@davidgoldin2577 They got to know each other in the Senior Bowl that year and were teammates with the Tigers for a time.
Early 90s Rick Leach was still playing in MLB for San Francisco
As good as Notre Dame was in 78, they ended up 9-3. A sign Notre Dame was slipping some as a national power. Things got worse in 81 with Gerry Faust.
