    I'm thrilled to see you react to some Avenged Sevenfold. This song is a tribute to the drummer and one of the founding members of the band Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan who unfortunately died way too young. If you want to see some other amazing songs from them you can check out Nightmare, Afterlife, Bat Country, Almost Easy, Hail to the King, Shepherd of fire, Beast and the Harlot to name a few. I would stay away from a little peace of heaven until you have heard a few more songs from them since the subject matter of that song can really turn people off from the band.

      I would say the best A7X songs for a breakdown are Beast and the Harlot, Nightmare, The Stage, Almost Easy, etc. I think they're lyrics are pretty solid throughout tho - Fiction's another shout following on from this song (but context is needed)

      @@2d_enjoyer Haha it is! My fav actually. But some reactors are left a bit shocked sometimes when A little piece of Heaven is their first AX7 experience and then just stop exploring A7X all together. A little piece of Heaven is (in my view) there more out of their element/ordinary song. Knox gotta check out some of their other songs before so he can fully enjoy the masterpiece A little piece of Heaven is. Let's not traumatize the boy right from the start 🤣

    fun fact:
    the rev (the drummer) has an incurable heart condition (enlarged heart) and was told that he might live until 30. he actually wrote a song called "fiction" 3 days before he passed away, in the lyrics he wrote "promise me you'll never feel afraid" like a message for the rest of the band. and in this song "so far away", they said "sleep tight, i'm not afraid" in respond to the lyrics the rev wrote for them, their way of saying "its okay brother, rest in peace, we promise we're not going to feel afraid". 😭

    I remember when I first watched this video. When it got to that montage scene, I didn't think much of it, but when it showed Rev splashing himself with coffee, I smiled, then I immediately started tearing up. Sadly, depression robbed me of my childhood when I was young, I never got to experience that feeling of immortality, childhood innocence, or happiness, I've wanted to end it since I was young, and with things getting worse, that has not changed. This song is so deep.

    • @Unknown-lm6tn
      @Unknown-lm6tn 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Fuck, you put a feeling I have had for my whole life into words. As long as I could remember I was aware of death, my feelings in it flip flopped between I don't want to die(existential dread) and I want to die so much. I never felt that immortality and bravado others seemed to experience in teenage years. I have not even really left my teenage years as I have just turned 18, but still the sentiment remains.
      I hope you have found even some happiness. I'm still depressed as probably are you as it never really goes away. This song reminds me that no matter how much I have thought about ending my life, people around me would feel pain and heartbreak. I'm sure people around you would too.
      Hope my message wasn't too much or too vent-y. I was so touched that someone could put my exact feelings into words, made me feel less alone.
      FoREVer ❤

    I met A7X at a show in philly years ago. Amazing guys. Really down to Earth group. Took the time to chat and even have a few drinks with us. This song was for their drummer who passed away. They wrote this to express how much he meant to them. Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. Absolutely amazing drummer. They made this as their goodbye song for him. They have another song that's more of a celebrate the life style.
    PLEASE check out St James by Avenged Sevenfold. Amazing tribute to an amazing guy.

      Also a dope song. I really want to see Fiction as a part 2 to the sad side of this saga. It'd be nice if he knew a little details going in like handed in 3 days b4 found and seeing the absurdity of his toxicology report. I think with the lyrics alone he could reach the same conclusion without that supporting evidence though.

    What gets me inspired is everything put out after their Waking the Fallen album. During that tour (this was 20 years ago so I may have forgot exactly what happened) Shadows, the singer, tore a vocal chord and started choking on blood on stage. He was rushed to the hospital for surgery cause, back then, they did heavier aggressive screaming during this time. Doctors and what not said his career was over. He was like "fk that". after healed, he retrained is voice and kept on pushing. Granted, he doesn't scream like he used to, but thats fkn amazing!!

    • @theRevVA32
      @theRevVA32 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh im pretty sure there was more to it than the heart disease. He always struggled fitting in and feeling like he belonged. A7X was the main thing that ever gave him that feeling in the world. Also it's pretty evident he commited suicide with 2-5min research and any knowledge of drugs (by the 5x over lethal mixtures on his tox screen). I know people that OD'd from Lortab and Valium (2 of the weakest in their classes) he had like 4 much stronger opiates and also around 4 benzos i think at least as well. Add hard alcohol to that to be sure. He was 28 and not stupid and probably not a drug novice. Sooo if u take that and his song Fiction he finished the lyrics and demo for 3 days b4 he was found.. Wellll if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck. Well u know.

    When I listen to this, I feel everything. All the emotions. I think of my loved ones who were taken too soon.

    So Far Away is such a hard song for me to perform. Not because it's difficult, but because 3 of the 4 times I've performed it, it was in dedication to people I've lost. The first one was my grandpa to a heart attack, one time was to my boyfriend who passed away from heart failure, and the third time was for his older sister who took her life because she had power of attorney and had to pull the plug. She spent her last five-and-a-half months feeling like she killed him. For me, it's hard to listen to that song without being reminded of all three of them. I wish they were still here, but they're not suffering. They're not in pain. In fact, I believe they've been reunited with their loved ones and they're patiently waiting for the day that we can see each other again. I look forward to that day, but I'm not trying to speed up the process.

I never knew Rev personally obviously but that 20-ish seconds always gives me chills and almost gets me to tear up. You can just hear the emotion that Zacky and/or Syn put into that guitar

    Every person has at least one musical moment in their life that will stick with them forever. You’ll remember where you were, who you were with and what you were feeling. I saw A7X at a festival not long after this album dropped, and when this song came on, you could hear a pin drop. During the first guitar solo, I closed my eyes and became immersed. When I opened my eyes, it was a semi circle of lighters. Instant chills. I took a picture, but I don’t need it, because I can close my eyes, to this day, and still see it behind my eyelids. I can still feel the electricity. It was completely emotional and it was my “one” moment. Thank you for your reaction.

    Hey man, please don't stop doing metal reactions. I have watched a lot of reactions to this song and yours is one of the best. I like the way the pay attention to what's being said and we're able to accurately out the pieces together and figure out almost exactly what was being communicated. Most reactors go into it with the knowledge that this is a tribute to the former drummer. Your breakdown seems genuine to me so I don't think you researched it beforehand! Either way I'm enjoying watching the metal. Started watching a long time ago for some rap breakdowns but I'm a metal head to the core. Just letting ya know Im enjoying this so far

    This band is quite unique. Most of them do backup vocals and do more than just play their instruments. You should react to some Live concerts to see this. Afterlife Live in the LBC is a good one to listen to. You'll hear all of them, including the passed drummer (The Rev) sing.

    Just stumbled across your page. Avenged Sevenfold was my very first rock concert when i was 16, I saw them 2 years after the rev died and they sang this song at the concert. Everyone shut up during this song and just let M.Shadows(Lead singer) sing it and by the end we were all crying. Such a special moment I'll never forget. One of the best concerts I've ever been too. ❤

    I got to meet them when they came to Spain in concert with Iron Maiden. Me and my friend were the only two in the crowd that were basicly going to see them. We went a little crazy the night before and searched around the city for them. It was annoyingly hot and we couldn't just sleep...And we found them right across from their hotel having beers and drinks and no one freaking knew them. And they got so excited about seeing us with the merch tshirts and everything. I have Johnny's signature missing but the rest of them, i have their signatures on the white album. Rev was just such a fucking joy to be around. Biggest and brightest blue eyes I ever saw in my life and such a fun dude. Even during the concert, he was on the side of the stage and we called ou for him while other groups were playing and he recognized us from the previous night. What an awesome man.
    The biggest of hugs to you, Knox ♥

    I've said it before: if you could physically bring a guitar to life and make it wail in anguish, this is it. Such a great song. If you want more A7X, you got to do Carry On. Was made for the ending of Black Ops 2, and the video was done via mocap in engine. Also, always double check the song length with them. Often times the official music video is much shorter than the actual song itself, in particular on the songs Beast and the Harlot, Bat Country, and Afterlife

    A7X is my favorite band and I'm listening to them from the day the band formed.
    I'm always amazed by your ability to catch every little detail even when you are listening to a band for a first time, whether it is the lyrics or the music/production.
    One of the reasons they are my favorite band is because they write the songs so well, you can easily feel the emotions and understand the message by listening to the instruments alone. "That's a beautiful time to introduce the electric guitar solo", "Drums muddied in the mix" exactly.

    “I’ll see you when he lets me”. Late 2021 one of my absolute closest friends sadly left this world. He wasn’t blood but he was my brother. Would’ve fought, killed and died for him in a heartbeat and he would’ve done the same for me. Got a tattoo in tribute to him and those lyrics are what I got on it. Very special song that everyone can relate to

    Critical Acclaim Live in the LBC from Avenged Sevenfold is a staple for reactors, but really anything from A7X is welcome. Jimmy was a uniquely talented drummer, but also had an impressive vocal timbre and range, and was a phenomenal songwriter; he is missed by everyone. Thanks for the reaction.

    RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan
    He died from a drug overdose, and it was not ruled a suicide. But if you read what was in his system when he died, and how much. It seems like it might've been one.
    Also, you'll see towards the end of the guitar solo, Synyster Gates has "The Rev" inlayed in the neck of the guitar. And the strap of the acoustic guitar says "foREVer".
