They did that because during WW2 they were Neutral. They slapped a big flag on the side of their ships, so they were easily identified and not attacked.
Sometimes i wish we had a dd line based on support, like instead of a normal smoke it would have a smoke launcher that could pop a cloud of smoke for 30s up to 7km or a dd where it can place fighters to anywhere up to 10km range, or they can damage control teammates around them that would be cool but we know weegee is dumb.
The thing is built end to end to open water gunboat. The smoke is nice but when you compare it to the dpm gremlins that get smoke its lack luster but when you start comparing it to other big 8 gun open water dds eg khab kleb the dpm all of a sudden isn’t bad but it gets what they don’t competitive conceal. You can either try to catch out worse gunboats eg halland gearing z52 etc and face punch them for about half your health and then use smoke to farm other targets or you spend the entire game farming and only use the smokes either when you’re out of health or in a bad situation. I believe the ship has potential though I’ll have to fine tune it’s usage once I actually have it.
Honestly for open watering I will always prefer the Khaba, my beloved. Tho I will still get the Alvero because I am interested in this kinda unique style. I do believe that she not weak, just ... well for once balanced.
For me the issue is the lack of a captain and the unwillingness to invest ECXP into raising one, because 1. the ship itself isn't bonkers crazy, so it doesn't justify such an investment 2. investing those ECXP into captains for other T10 DDs of nations, that can be used on more ships than what Spain has, also offers more return of investment 3. We don't know if the spanish will get a tech tree in the intermediate future and if they do, chances are high that they get a unique commander like the Dutch did. In which case you may have one captain too much That's for me is the same reason why I don't play any of the Pan-American ships...

Im not Spanish, and I still like it, it's a good all- rounder in my opinion, that can a bit of everything, except AA perhaps...all my rounds went very well, but its probably not a ship for everyone...still for me its coal well spent
I saw that the guns fire chance is 11% if I'm wrong burst fire with all flags in mind with fire setting chance could set some things on fire very quick.
So a Regolo hull with way fewer interesting things going on, including somehow even more questionable torps? I want to like the burst fire, but it's hard since the super ships already poisoned the well on that concept.
@@MalteseKnight They are? WoWs Fitting Tool's showing that Bazan reloads its torps 5 seconds slower and that they have 0,1 km worse detectability (reaction time goes from 6.6 s to 7.3 s). It's not a massive difference by any means, but a nerf nonetheless unless they really were changed to be the same at the last minute.
Big fan btw. I think i will remain a F. Sherman main for now. Sherman is great at open water kiting, it cant do the push/pull like Marcu but it is good at stop/go free farming
I'm wondering- how would you personally improve this ship, Maltese? Personally I'd remove the F key and buff the base reload, maybe focus it more on open water gunboating by removing the smoke, giving her a heal, and a better speed boost
Yamagiri has higher DPM, better conceal, same F-key and same consumable. So why pay money to experience the F-key DD instead of paying credits to get Yamagiri and F-key the Bazan?
Balanced ship imo, good implementation of F key forcing people to actually consider timing. If you have an enemy destroyer on half HP you probably a pretty alright chance of straight up deleting them with burst fire. Training a Spanish captain is the biggest problem personally big fan

How exactly can a normal destroyer actually hunt this down, unless 1) its russian or something and out-ranges it with good ballistics, but even then alvaro can just stay dark then 2) something like a Kleber or Regolo might be able to win 1v1, but assuming you hit ur burst fire, I don't see how any dd besides a supership dd can take this out assuming the alvaro is a decent player. Sure it can get punished, but I still don't like the fact that more and more ships with F key gimmicks are in the game, which gives normal ships no chance to recover. I can still understand that its weaker than other superships and doesn't have the best guns overall, but an F-key is just devastating imo
Submarine hit 1 with homing, felt like filler so I removed that part, since before I ate the torp I was sitting in smoke, since nothing was spotted, and right after I ate the torp I moved a bit and said nothing, then started talking again.
Guns may have received a net nerf but there’s other compensating factors. Smaland is the only other scary gunboat with this kind of conceal and that thing has been removed from sale for approaching a year now.

Smaland got removed because Smaland is better at everything and there is enough radar in-game, no need more radar DDs. It's a way to give the ship to 10% of the population only and make money later with an other 5-10% in Christmas crate.
I think it is the worse ship in the Spanish line. The Spanish cruisers farm like crazy and have decent features. But the Alvaro is either a very poor light cruiser or a very awkward DD leader.
The fact their "Spanish" Captain speaks as he was from Latin America rather than Spain. Let alone the design is based of Italian ships rather than Spanish ones. lmao WG.
This ship is a "paper ship", It was never built, but its design was based on italian destroyers, thus the similarity. Canarias was similar to a British County class Cruiser, although, obviously, Spain has many more own ships

Another crap ship from Wargaming, with yet another shoehorned gimmick instead of a well balanced ships. This is a transparent attempt by Wargaming to get Whales to spend millions of stocked Elite Captain Experience to level up a Captain from yet another nation with no tech tree. Alvaro De Bazan isn't even a good ship. Very disappointing, and a good indication of the direction Wargaming is headed: more cut/paste laziness, more heavy monetization, less concern for the Players (if that is possible).
Alvaro de Bazan is fine. Malta was probably fed up with the earlier iterations of the ship and gave it a negative review. Trust me, the ship could've been a lot worse, she had 10s reload originally iirc. Her guns are not worse than Grozovoi at all imo, HE DPM is practically the same, having better alpha and the burst fire to boot. Less range than Grozovoi is misinformation. And no she isn't a copy-paste of the A. Regolo.

Stop making him Khaba or Kleber.
Yamagiri has higher DPM, better conceal, same F-key and same consumable.
