Hi Ash and Eloise, just watched it through and mighty impressed with your labours ! I feel a bit guilty we had not done that some time ago. Very happy to see her getting a new lease of life and feel she is in good hands now. Also love the style of your videos, imagine I am with you ! Will be in touch, well done, love and best wishes from us all, Stewart XX ⛵️
Hi Stewart, thank you so much! Don’t be silly, we were secretly glad we had it on our to do list as it has been a very satisfying job all around! That’s great, you are always in our thoughts and we will speak to you soon. Hopefully get together for a drink on board soon when we are in Glasson? Lots of love. Ash & Eloise xx
This is amazing, true love for the good ship Sea Gypsy! Regardless who's hands she finds herself in. I dare say she is in great hands from what i've seen so far!

There’s always work to do on a boat, that’s why I love them so much! There’s no substitute to having to do the work yourself, it’s how we learn to look after these sea ladies. You’re doing a great job and you’re exactly right about learning every bit of the boat. When you’re in that storm and one of the systems starts playing up, you need to be able to get on top of the problem asap. Looking forward to future vids.
Yes we have found this! But at least it will keep us out of trouble! When we set off next year we will have so much more time to invest in the boat fully and we really don’t mind the work that goes into it, as you get so much from it☺️ Thank you ♥️
Well done guys , love watching your videos. Sail boat is looking awsome, thanks for taking us along on your journey. Looking forward to all the up and coming vids👍
Looking good guys :) Can I recommend you guys spend some evening hours watching Mads and Ava on Sail Life? Mads is a master of explaining diy things like how to work with epoxy and 406 etc and how to lay up glass etc, I've been sailing and working with boats for 40 years, but he's still managed to teach me a thing or two! btw.. The "two seats at the back [stern]" are known as "Gin and Tonic Seats"
This is brilliant thank you we will definitely have a watch of some, sounds very helpful especially given our experience! Love the name, the previous owner called them the ‘pensioners seats!’😂😁
Great job guys keep up the good work she will be awesome when finished.Teak takes a lot of looking after and over the years does fade the cruiser across from you guys to the left is a princess 37 and if you look she has teak handrails at the back me and my dad had to redo all ours but once done did look so much better. On new boats they dont have so much cant wait for the next installment love the channel ❤❤😊😊😊😊

You guys have an amazing journey ahead. Love what you are doing. I'm not a woodworker or a sailor, but those splits in your rail anchors won't be secured by epoxy alone. Imo you've spent all that time and effort you should have shored up the strength using some dovetail/ bowtie cuts or something. It could save your life at sea one day. I wish you guys luck and will follow your journey vicariously.
Hi, I am enjoying your journey. One thought! I really think that you should seriously tidy all your lines. They're all over the place and it's only a matter of time before one of you trips and hurt yourselves. Keep up the good work.
My previous comment was part way through watching. After watching to the end I just had to come back to say, "Wow". That woodwork looks sooo good. And you were right when you said your boat was built with good quality materials. The quality is still there for you to enjoy, long after the cost of buying it is forgotten.
Wow so impressed with your patience and determination ,, so obvious you want to love that boat ,, lovin the content and keep it coming just as it is ,, real , cool and just you two on a Great journey in your life .
Hi Ash, great to see a young couple following their dreams, loving the videos👍. That teak that you were oiling near the begining looks fabulous. That work on the toe rail is all worthwhile. Teak looks so good when in good condition. You can always tell when it is summer in England. The rain is warmer.
Fine job! Don’t be afraid to use a very sharp scraper to remove finishes from teak. Esp in the inside corners. I learned from an old painter and often you can scrape an area and not need to sand it if you do it right. MUCH easier than sanding. Anyway nice job keep it up!
Such a transformation already. Well done to you both of you for all your hard work and dedication to making your dreams come true. Wishing you all the best and can't wait for the next video.

Actually made a video about sanding a bout quite interesting can’t wait to see the finished result. Can’t believe u guys are actually doing so many peoples dream. Congratulations 🎉
great job rejuvenating the wood. Little tip: when ever you have a case where you need to repair, or even make an new, hole, make it bigger than needed, fill it with thickened epoxy. then drill the hole you need through the epoxy. That way the surrounding wood, or core of the boat, is sealed from water damage by the epoxy, while the screw touches only epoxy.

Just found your channel. You seem to have found the perfect boat for living and charter. What I did not understand is how you found her. I admire your decission to do this and wish you good luck. I will follow your videos. Thanks so far.
That white powder is called fumed silica. It's basically glass. It's used to thicken epoxy. Keep in mind epoxy does not do very well in sunlight. Most people use butyl tape for caulking around stanchions. If you have water in your screw holes make sure you dry it thoroughly before epoxy. I would drill the holes out and let it dry and then add the epoxy let it sit and then we drill. Then use your butyl tape to seal around the screws and the flanges.
Thank you very much, we have noted this for next time. We used Sikaflex structural adhesive to glue the stanchions down and seal them so hopefully that will be sufficient😁
So, for your fridge, if you have not fixed it yet. Remove the rest of the broken trim. Get a piece of two-inch aluminium strip that is the full width of the fridge. Bend it so it overlaps the bottom of the fridge and seal and rivet it to the bottom edge of the fridge. It would cover the unsightly part and would make it waterproof in the future.
I have found for really small areas a Dremel did the job, just an idea you can use lots of different attachments. Regards Paul, keep up your great work ❤
Great video! From an old guy who paid the price please wear masks when sanding, and especially when using colloidal silica. Your future self will thank you!
@@SailingSeaGypsy you will find cheap sets of these things in the pound type of shops , half the price of tool station , a god send when you need to do a job while in the middle of nowhere . Hello you too. What a fabulous job you made so impressed with the dedication that you show in a week what you have achieved is amazing. I always look forward to your videos and I noticed that we get one a month which is fine. I bet you get loads of questions and obviously impossible for you to answer them all, but mine is I was just wondering what your intention is to get the mould off the canvas canopy or is it a spray hood? I am no expert also I noticed there is another section of canopy lay down at the back. It will be interesting to see that in position and see what it looks like anyway to say I’m impressed with your channel is an understatement you both come across as super genuine, which is half the battle on TH-cam, carry on being just like you are and you both will win through😊x😊
Hello Paul! Thank you so so much for your lovely comment. We are only managing one a month at the moment as we don’t live together and we are both still working full time jobs so it is just finding the time alongside boat work!! But we are hoping next year when we head off we will be able to do one a week😁 Yes we are going to replace it! I think we will clean it up in the meantime though as it’s doesn’t look the best… thank you again and glad you are enjoying the videos☺️
Hi there. The teak looks good. However, in the long run, teak will look nicer if untreated. As an alternative for cleaning it 1-2 times a year, use Oxalic acid (from your drugstore) or lemon juce (we get it concentrated at the supermarket). Drip it onto the teak and spread it with a soft brush. After 10min, wash it off and you are done. Good luck you two! Silvano
Hi Silvano. How are you? Thanks for the comment, that’s really interesting! We will keep that in mind in regards to the oxalic acid and lemon juice. We did look into the sealant quite a lot, it’s very gentle on the wood and a lot of people didn’t realise we had even sealed it once we had finished so we are hoping it was the best option! Thank you, we hope you are keeping well and hopefully catch up soon☺️
@SailingSeaGypsy Thanks, I am fine. Have you considered to make a room tour video inside and outside? In fact, few viewers know the Franchini yachts and are possibly interested to see what it offers. Very best regards, Silvano

you can get many many different heads for your multitool including sanding pads
Yes we ended up using sanding pads for it, worked a treat!
@@SailingSeaGypsy you will find cheap sets of these things in the pound type of shops , half the price of tool station , a god send when you need to do a job while in the middle of nowhere . Teulu Tribe channel were exactly where you are now 2 years ago . now they are in the pacific off the coast of Costa Rica . You can do it too
Hello you too.
@@silvanocometta9760 yes this is going to come soon! We have one of the cabins full of old sails and some other bits we need to sort and then we will film one😁
Micro bead epoxy thickener. Add it to make it a peanut butter consistency
Dust masks…h/s.. doing a brilliant job… well done 👍
Thank you 😁
That's why it pays to do the job after the boat is hauled out to the hard.😊
Complete admiration for you both, what a great Chanel. Your videos are fantastic and it’s great to see the boat coming along.
Could you tell me which chandlery you visited please? I’m based in the north east.
Keep up the good work
Thank you so much, what a lovely comment 😊
We ended up in Limington as we were south for the weekend. But the closest to us are Glasson and Preston as far as we know
@@SailingSeaGypsy No worries at all and thank you, I’m currently restoring my boat although not like yours it’s an old classic speedboat here in Teesside and I wondered about the chandlers you featured and where it was so thank you
Looks great! Is your decking relatively new teak or is it artificial?
No it’s artificial, flexi teak 😁
