We had a young prize Nubian buck that foundered and didn’t want to walk much etc. He laid down in the pasture and let me check his feet out to find heat etc. I looked up founder in Natural Goat Care by Pat Coleby. A tablespoon or two of Epsom Salts by drench worked very quickly. And he never had another problem with founder when we had him. We had to limit the cause, in his case sudden access to our rich pastures, until his minerals were back balanced. Hope you find this helpful.

I have a wether in this situation. I watched what he was eating. He was picking what was going to be the sweetest tasting. I think some of it is just choices made by the goat. Like bad nutrition choices of humans. This was a great informational video. Thank you❤

I've kept sheep for 17 years. No issues with founder Until now I've been dealing with this with one of my rams He was born here 12 years ago - our first bottle baby. I didn't catch it quick enough and I doubt he'll come back from it. He's on Meloxicam and I have been icing his feet 2 x a day. Vet said if he's not better by two weeks, then it's time to put him down. He eats, but walking about is tricky and he cannot lie down or get up without help. Along with him, I have three other rams, two have gone blind with cataracts this year, and one has ruptured a tendon that supports his internal organs. So, I'm considering putting them down as well. It sucks. It's not my first time but I hate it every time and I cry every time, second guessing myself and the decision over and over. Could I have done more? Should I have done more? When is it right to let them go? Why don't they just die peacefully in their sleep? I wish. Ultimately, when they are humanely put down, I guess they do die peacefully in their sleep. My poor boy that has foundered will very likely be put down soon unless by some miracle there is marked improvement in the pain level. It just hurts him despite meds and therapy. I am so sorry for you and I feel your broken heart.

This is so sad. I’ve had a horrible year I’m trying to nurse a very tiny baby to being a healthy baby One day good next day set back She had 4 babies all were very tiny in the 3 yrs never seen this tiny but there doing alright
I had to have one of my goats have a C section. Then one of my favorite goats I had to take to the vet and have another baby delivered and the vet didn’t tell me they hurt her and she died then 2 months later her baby got pneumonia and died. Found out the vet I took her mom to they kept the baby goat that I thought died
I drive 70 miles to my regular vet who knows what he’s doing that’s how I found out they kept my sweet girls baby a vet Tex knew one girl that worked there and said the baby was beautiful. I filed a complaint against them and hired a lawyer
But on the good side I’ve had 19 babies and so far all in good health and beautiful
What do you do when the feed stores keep changing the grain and it’s not for the better. I’ve tried to order your binder but it won’t go threw
God bless you and your family many blessings and prayers 🙏🏾

Oh my, you’ve had quite the spring! I’m so sorry!
I’m flabbergasted that they kept a kid. 😮😑 I do hope you find resolution to that. No vet or assistant should ever do anything like that.
You live in the states? I can’t imagine why it’s not working to order the binder. I’m making sales every day.
That’s what we have to do, be sad and have our emotions about the tough stuff and then remind ourselves of the many blessings. You have 19 little blessings. ❤️

@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage I live in New Mexico. When I went to my vet I trusted and he did the C section and handed me two healthy babies and mom was doing great I was telling them about my sweet Possum and her baby how they hurt her and her baby died the Vet Tex said she knew what I was talking about. She ask me didn’t I give the baby away I said no they said it died didn’t show or tell me what is was. I thought that was unusual. Then she told me to wait she was going to call her Came back with a picture of the baby and said does this look like the mother or father. I showed her Possums picture and the father the baby girl looked just like her mother even had the shape of a two on her face just like mom My vet gave me information how to get it back and to sue them he was furious about how unethical this was. I can’t do anything about her mom I have her ashes But to steal the baby on top of that plus they didn’t tell me they hurt the mom and I could have saved her but just sent her home no meds nothing I have all the records and cost. She was my favorite goat her and I talked while milking and I’d tell her to get her licker ready and she would give me kisses
I’m going to try and get the baby back but I know I have a slim chance but I will try. This has just been a nightmare of a season but I know the Lord is with me and my family and he is not going to leave
About your binder I can not get it I’m going to try on the computer to see if it will go threw. I’ve been trying for months to get it. I really need it when things get to where we can’t get meds or what ever
Thank you so much God bless you and your family many blessings and prayers
