    4:27 I like the 1976 Marshall through the 1989 Vintage 30's. I like the harmonics, the squishyness of attack, the massive mid scoop. Same with the S.I.R. #34 mod 1983 Marshall at 6:24. I wonder what the 1976 sounds like through the 1971 cab.
    The S.I.R. #39 is too shrill here IMO, but probably records just fine still.

    I prefer the ‘77 Marshall the best for Lead Solos, as seen a little later in the video around 5:24. That’s my sound. The ‘76 Marshall is nice also. The 70’s Traynor doesn’t have the power of the Marshall but has that nice vintage 70’s tone. And as always the Fenders sound good when playing a certain style that suits them. They aren’t grinders like the Marshalls and they aren’t for doing the Black Sabbath type riffs and chords. But when you jam on some serious blues it’s hard to beat the Fenders. Different tools for different jobs, means that some people might overlook the Fenders because they don’t burn and growl quite as hot as the Marshalls and can’t quite get that power chord crunch, but they are more laid back and sassy, with more finesse to each note, maybe even more expressive especially for vintage blues rock.
    The ‘73 Fender reminded me of Mick Taylor on “Can’t you hear me Knockin” by the Stones, with that crunch chord at exactly the 10:00 minute mark. The ‘67 VOX defiant sounded VINTAGE all the way at 9:20, a Nice Treat, and I think it inspired you to play in such a way as to coax a certain sound out of your hands. Again, Different tools for different jobs, so it makes them all hard to compare because they all sound good. Thanks Johan for letting us have a treat for the ears and a little history lesson, or should I say “History Listen”

    Goes to prove that’s amps and speaker are just as much instruments as an electric guitar. The best, that depends on what type of music I have to play. But if pushed to choose, JCM800 is the safest bet! But wish you had one of those vintage Fenders that Bonamassa used recently. Tweed stuff.

    All the amps pass with good tones ... except that thin raspy modded Marshall sound like a broken transistor radio with a busted 2 inch speaker . What a waste of tubes that one is . But this cool video is a good comparison of good and bad amp tones . My absolute favorite is first one 77 Marshall . Nothing else touches that one .

  • @Warrantti
    @Warrantti 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Here is an idea for three video series. Compare Marshall super lead (100W or 50W) to Marshall studio vintage head (20W). Then compare silver jubilee (100W) to marshall silver jubilee (20W). After that, compare JCM 800 (100W) to Marshall studio classic head (20W). Marshall launched these less powerful amps back in 2019. Nobody has compared these amps fully cranked with good microphones. There are some videos compared with smartphone cameras and microphone. Maybe marshall could sponsor this series?
