    Anthro student here: hand-axes have been around since the early stone-age, roughly 2.3 million years ago with Homo habilis and the Oldowan stone tool type that they used, which only got refined more and more, especially once Homo erectus pops into the fossil record

      Mad props good buddy. I was spacifically going to refrence paleolithic and neolithic technologies and how hand axes ( as well as celts, spuds, stone adze blades and stone axes) were/ still are ( in some areas) amazing tools to work with.
      I especially found it interesting that the entries mention examples of elder Kleavor essentially learning techniques like correcting their chipped edges by essentially micro flaking sections where vhunks had spalled off via pressure flaking ( hence why the blades would get sharper if parts were smashed off.).

It's based off of the Mantis style of Kung Fu, which was traditionally called Toro-ken (or Tanglangquan).

    In fact, its part rock type works in its favor, as rock tools were primitive compared to the later Iron and steel tools that would be made. Which goes well with being an ancient Scizor of sort.

    Someone pointed out in another video that Kleavor is what Scizor looks like under the metal suit
    which does make sense in a way

  • @orandor6249
    @orandor6249 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Kleavor makes so much more sense as an evolution to Scyther than Scizor. I always felt like Scizor was a downgrade in design compared to Scyther, as it just looks more like a kids' toy, whereas Scyther looks so dangerous. Kleavor looks like a much meaner and more dangerous version of Scyther.
    I really like the evolutions they presented in this game so far. I'm excited to see what Growlithe's evolution will look like.

    Also, as time went on and rock tools became more and more obsolete, Scyther had to find a new survival tactic. Thus, Scizor. The steel type. It's literal evolution and I love it.

    I like to think kleavor’s extinction is explained by rock-paper-scizzors. Kleavor being rock, but scyther as paper (paper thin blades) being strong vs rock was able to survive. With rock gone, scizzor was now able to have a chance and evolves from scyther having no extra competition anymore

  • @thepurplebox380
    @thepurplebox380 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think it's interesting that instead of a metal coat, you use a special rock to make scyther evolve into Kleavor. It's almost a proto-scizor.

    so the whole breaking off bits of stone is called pressure flaking, and not only does breaking off flakes sharpen the edge of the big stone, but every little hard broken off is itself its own tool. it's one of the first things you learn, and most important things to learn, in bushcraft. every flake can itself become a thousand different kinds of knives, an arrow head, a burrowing tool (drill), and so much more. to make that into a pokemon is honestly really fuckin cool, and I really hope we see more like it, esp if we ever get more legends games.

    I know why there is a phone in the game, the first phone was made in 1876. Japan would start colonizing Hokkaido Wich hisui/sinnoh is based on in 1869, although Japan only started documenting the fauna and Flora of Hokkaido until around 1877 so my theory is your character will be using one of the first phones in the Pokemon world.

    I think something to note is the black blades resemble obsidian. Hokkaido being a volcanic region had an abundance of obsidian and was used in paleothic times to create cutting tools. This would mean that Kleavor could quite literally be a glass "cannon", or more specifically a glass axe. Which is appropriate because there would be exceptionally sharp weapons and a complete lack of armor in the stone age.

    Theory: In Platinum, Scyther's location can be found on route 215 , west of Veilstone City and as we all know Veilstone is a city "Hewn from Rock" . Hew is define as a something to chop or cut off using an axe. Kleavor is an Axe Pokemon and maybe Kleavor was used to create that city, to create the first Head Quarters of Team Galactic (led by Cyllene, the ancestor of Cyrus) .At some point maybe Kleavor was abused and started dying. When you look at scythers location in Platinum, its like the best location to set up bunk houses before construction, and maybe a rest area for the workers which is just west of Veilstone.

    It's interesting that Scyther can be influenced and modified by minerals, one being a Hisuian stone-like mineral and the other being the Metal Coat. It would be cool if Onix had a branched evolution with the same evolution method as Scyther. If I'm not mistaken, one of the Pokémon depicted in the flashback of the Kalos War in X/Y was Steelix, implying that Onix were able to evolve into Steelix several hundred years ago. Additionally, both Steelix and Scizor had Mega Evolutions. At the very least, since Steelix and Scizor can be found in the wild of at least Sinnoh and Galar in the present day, I would hope that Onix and Scyther back in the days of Hisui could still evolve into Steelix and Scizor respectively.
