Omg literally thank you so much there are literally no videos about this issue been without lights for a month VERY IRRATATING. ALWAYS putting gas in it because I cant see the gauges or oil life!
Didn't work for me, it only comes on when the cat was very hot inside and after a 30 second fuse pull, after further research, I found it's a bad chip in the cluster, I suck at soldering, headed to the junk yard instead
You the man bro!! I saw the video. Did exactly like you said. Unplugged it and plugged it back in. Boom! It works again. Just wanted to say thanks and I appreciate it. I ain't no mechanic but I sure felt like one afterwards lol. God bless👌🚘🔧
Had exact issue, this helped me soooo much. I was fortunate it started working again after unplugging it and plugging it back in. Appreciate you, for the simple instructions and for sharing this info.
@@Texas_Takeover negative. It did not work. I just grabbed one from the scrap yard and replaced mine. Everything worked on it except the odometer did not go up.
After you unplugged and plugged the cluster back in and it started to work again, did the problem return. Just pulled the cluster out on mine and it started to work when i put it back in.
I have the same issue with my 2009 malibu , I did find one video that recommended checking the fuse box first before replacing the cluster, I did checked it out and it worked , I even replaced the fuses , but the problem it might be just with the fuse box it self and also the wires might be loose as well , check them all out before replacing the cluster.
@@richnapier2364I had the same problem before and that was the case. It was an instant fix....or so I thought. Fast forward to now, the lights went off again and now the fuse situation won't fix it, still dark.
Removed mine by just removing the 7mm bolts on the side that holds the gray bottom of the trim.. Pulled the bottom gray trim down it was held on by the plastic clips took the gray bezel off the cluster removed the 4 bolts that hold in the cluster.. It took 10 minutes to remove 6 bolts total Two bolts on the side 4 bolts that hold the cluster in.. Make sure the steering wheel is all the way down..
My 2009 is not working Service people tell me a used one may not program and no one wants to try. New ones are not available anywhere. ONe shop says maybe they can repair it or find a remanufacitured one that matches my VIN number Who should I believe ?
Awesome video man! Quick question, I have the same vehicle but my cluster works except for my odometer is stock at 130,XXX miles. It doesn't keep counting for some odd reason. Everything else works though, which is odd enough. I would appreciate your input! Thanks brother!
That means it's not the original cluster. My 2011 is stuck at 152,040 and it's because the used car dealership where I had bought it had changed it. These clusters have a history of going out sometimes intermittently. Mine is going out again (usually when it's cold outside) and if I remove the fuse and put it back in after a few min it often comes back on. Ima try unplugging it like this video and if not ama go buy another one at the junkyard for $40.
Bro thank you lol. Now I can check mine out. The lights went out on the dash no gauges, no alarm lights nothing. I checked the fuse, physically looks good i didnt OHM or check continuity on the fuse yet but I will lol! Think it's my light cluster honestly. Dangitt!!!
I have a 2011 Chevy Malibu with the same problem I checked fuse box and I noticed that when I disconnected the board it worked for a moment and then it stopped working I bought a new board I installed it worked for 2 days and the fault came back someone to tell me how to solve it I'm sick of this problem
Thanks for the video. Saved me a lot of money based off what the mechanic quoted me lol.

LMAO. My car is doing this also, so me too!
I'm scared it's going to get hot and then I won't know until it is too late.
I'm going through this shit right now. Only the check engine light comes on.
Literally the only video I found DIY style about this issue.
Thank you!
Bro to be honest all I did was disconnect the cluster than plug it back In and it worked fine again
I hope that's my case, im going to start on it right now

Does your cluster still work for you? I'm having the same issue but I'm dreading taking apart the cluster lol
Any update after 2 months? Still working?

do you have a idea of what fuse is for the dashboard light an gauges ?
Fuse location is passenger side console. Pull that cover should be last 10A fuse on bottom right

Thanks for the video! Great help. Going to take one out of a 2010 today. Did the one you unplugged then plugged back in keep working?
