    As mentioned before, inner gaurd rails "that would be smaller gauge rail " would extend both sides of the bridge, " both mains" at least a car length incase of a derailment on the bridge that would prevent as much damage. In the real world....
    Just a tip from one railroader to another. Thanks Daryl looking good.... once in a while run some lite engine moves with 6 or more engines just for something different ! Thanks Andy

      The guard rails will not go in until after the track is ballasted.

    Inner bridge gaurd rails, royal icing on bridges!

      I forgot to mention that guard rails will go in after ballasting.

    Was honestly a bit bummed that Daryl decided to dismantle his iconic Geneva Sub awhile back, given that it was easily one the best N-scale layouts ever built. However, this HO scale *Evanston Sub* is simply spectacular. He chose the perfect section of UP's Overland Route to model, and it has already obliterated my high expectations. Have been repeatedly impressed over the past two years. Cheers

      Thanks so much 😁. Some people were actually angry with me for that. Oh well. Working out great for me so far. Having a blast.

      @@EvanstonSubbest reason to never share your creations because then no one can be mad at you for what is not their business. I think if I ever get to build one I’ll never post it

      I was an elementary school principal for 40 years. I have very tough skin. Basically, didn't care if people got mad. I always tried to do what was best for the children and in this case, what was best for my model railroad hobby.

    It.s crazy how a simple bridge brought so much to that little area. Looking good.

    Looking at the "excursion" train, between the 4014, 844, their auxiliary tenders and the diesel, the locomotive consist is almost as long as the passenger consist :D
    This stuck out to me owing to my pointing out "classic" Lionel passenger trains where everyone coveted having an A-B-A F-units on the head end and never pulling more than 4-5 coaches with them 🤪

    • @EvanstonSub
      @EvanstonSub  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's actually three coaches missing due to an electrical short mishap. But your comment is quite correct none the less.

    Great railroading videos. I'm playing the Powerball so that I can build my master railroad someday. Keep these videos coming. Glad to see you started using a helper diesel with your steam locomotives. Looks more realistic. Thanks.

    • @zaklex3165
      @zaklex3165 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The diesel with the steam engines was NEVER there to be a helper(it was basically in idle most of the time), first it was there for braking purposes and then it was because of PTC, but now the 4014 has onboard PTC and may or may not need the diesel anymore.

    Good Job Daryl one down two to go next up the Taggert Truss Bridge and the Devil's Slide Bridge in Croydon then the fun begins plastering this section and forming Taggert Tunnel can't wait until it is done.

    Not sure of the laws in that state, but in California you're only legally allowed to stop on the shoulders in event of an emergency. The maintenance road would probably be your best bet for photos of the actual bridge and piers.

    • @EvanstonSub

      The foam road bed is by Hobby Innovations. Unfortunately, they are now out of business.

    Great build. Question, Is the fact that the river when facing the bridge bends to the left instead of the right as per your design a deiiberate change or poetic licence.? On the google Map photo's it shows bending to the left. Cheers

      I actually flipped the enrire scene so that the Taggarts mountain would be oriented in a way that fits the location.
