Beautiful. This is the first time I have seen the primer paint used first. Makes great sense. Having trouble with the resin sticking to the sides. Does the primer help? Also, do you sand at all between your first and second coat of resin?
Hi the primer makes a huge difference. Does two things - puts a barrier between resin and wood so less bubbles from tannins in wood. Also helps make colours pop. You can sand between coats but if you pour the second coat after approx 5 hours or next day before it is fully cured you don’t need to sand
How do you get the pigments to cover the sides without falling off? I’m using Mas resin which is pretty thick but still struggling with sides not fully covered.
Hi I usually paint the sides with similar acrylic paint colour first or a primer paint. Let that dry then do you’re resin. This helps the resin waterfall to look better as it gets very thin when it flows down the sides. It is also better on a second coat as the resin sticks to resin better if that makes sense.
So I tried making this today but I only have a deep pour/casting epoxy... it's very thin and just running off. I'm assuming that if I let it dry/cure and do a second coat, it might stick better? The epoxy mixture in your video is super thick. Mine is quite runny...
Dont use deep pour casting resin as it takes too long to cure and is not suitable for this type of project. This resin i use cures overnight and is an Art cote resin and is perfect for wave lacing. Deep pour is very thin and has a slower curing designed for deep projects and casting.
love this!!!
Thank you

Perfect
thank you
What sealer undercoat do you use and how long do you let it dry prior to pouring epoxy?
Hi i use gesso artist primer. You can also use acrylic paints in colours but make sure they are fully dry before applying resin.

Absolutely love this idea! Can you tell me, do you re stain the back of your board after sanding from removing the resin and tape?
Hi I just use liquid beeswax natural food safe oil brand I use is Gillies
