BDO - Horse Skill Training: Drift, Instant Accel, Sprint, Charge
Hello!
In this guide, I will show you the best and fastest ways to train these horse skills: Drift, Instant Accel, Sprint and Charge.
The locations in this video is all near/in heidel.
Some of these skills you need to have patience with at the beginning of training, using these methods, but very soon enough you will learn these tricks!
Drift
1. Find a spot, preferable lag-free area, works even towards a wall.
2. Rebind "W" into any other button you can easily spam with your other hand. (Mouse button is great)
3. Start Sprinting and hold down Shift+A+S together, now start spamming the button you rebinded from "W".
Instant Accel
1. Find a spot, preferable lag-free area, works even towards a wall.
2. Rebind "W" into any other button you can easily spam with your other hand. (Mouse button is great)
3. Start Sprinting and hold down Shift+A+S together, now start spamming the button you rebinded from "W", and then press "F" and hold it down. (Requires Drift to work)
Sprint
1. Find a spot, preferable towards a wall with a object interrupting the hight of jump.
2. Start sprinting holding down Shift, now start jumping.
Note: If you have Streak Leap you must jump manually, because you need a gap between the jumps for this to work. If you do not have Streak Leap, just hold down Space.
Charge (Only works on specific dummys, example at Oliviero npc, west of Heidel near the road, Video pops up at charge showing new location)
1. Find the spot, go to heidels practice dummys and aim your horse between two dummys.
2. Hold down Charge keybinding.

try read my guide about horse racing, there is detailed information of how the system might work, several players comfirmed they noticed the same pattern as I did when I wrote it. But there is none who can comfirm it 100% (about how horses gain skills)

Amen to that, man. I don't mind people listening to heavy/death metal and things like that in their private time, but I think it's really stupid to post videos with music like that. You can never make everyone happy, but the right thing to do is to at least cover the likely majority who will watch your videos, and I'm pretty sure the majority won't like death metal. ^^

Lady Y thats true. I did level up charge last while recording so that was not an option for me. Also adding charge to the trick might be much more difficult for some players. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. thanks for noticing

Do the sprint trick, but jump when the S:IA proccs (second time glow appear). You need a good rytm to make it works. Myself I do it like this: Charge>Drift>IA>S:IA Jump on glow>Drift when landing >IA>S:IA Jump on glow > Drift....

have sprint, drift, instant accell fully trained. then go places really fast, and watch your instant accel happening - every SECOND burst of speed is actually S: instant accell. and what you do is JUMP at each of those S:IA bursts but NOT at the regular IA ones. Takes some practice, but once you got the rhythm down you pretty much do the round trip from grana to altinova and back two or three times to get S:IA to 100%...

I don't know if anyone figured out any of these tricks before me, but I figured them out myself and thought I could share a video abou it. Well, I did hear about the charge at dummy trick, but that is the only trick I did not figure out myself :P
The jumping cancle on sprint I figured out because I heard some people mentioned that they noticed some skills could be interrupted with jumping when training them, so I thought, maybe it works on sprint aswell, and it did :P
The drift and IA I wanted to figure out the actual mechanics when they activate etc, so I tried different combonations, and ended up finding a way accidentally how to use them as fast as possible, and also noticed they cancle the minigames automatically if you time it right :D
S:IA in next video Was simple to figure out cus I learned how to in previous methods.
I need help! I have Drift, Sprint, Start Accel, High Jump, Quick Stop, Imstant Accel, Charge, Quick Back, Streak Leap, and Quick Ride... all seems like must have, but I want to exchange 1 for Two-Seater.... which one should I change??
Any skills which interrupt the process can be locked, such as streak leap.
What i find even more hilarious then how silly the horse looks while breaking the game is how your horse minigame actually works

Hey socka, i got S instant accel on my T8 horse, is there anyway to train this one?
Fastest way that I figured out is if you first train Drift+IA, then you use the sprint training method together with sprint + ia, In other words: Drift>IA>S:IA>Jump > Drift>IA>S:IA>Jump > Drift>IA>S:IA>Jump
To cancel S:IA, you must jump at the same time that S:IA proccs, you see this white smoke the second time from IA burst. If you time it right, you cancel, if you time it bad, u get minigame. Use the sprint training location to make the jumps go faster.

IA worked perfectly fine for my pegasus 6 months ago, now I can't get it to work on the doom horse, even tried to use a spam clicking macro... it might have to do with the horse's turn/brake stat getting up towards/past 170
I havent played for ages now, but if I recall correct, the skills are difficult to train with higher break, and if I am correct, doom has like super high break :P
since the break animation duration is shorter with high break, you need to time it even better, or spamm even faster than low break horses, This is just what I assume atm :P
hm... i bound W to my left mouse click to do this, but no matter how fast i click nothing happens. the minigame still driggers and doom does the whole drift animation then stands still. is it because sprint isnt learned yet? got 24/25 skills, missing sprint lol. never mind, i rebound WW, not just W xD
i cant find the dummys but the other 3 worked like a charm though already maxed the other 3

For the heidel method for charge, those dummies don't work anymore. They are not hittable. However there are scarecrows right outside heidel (it's kind of a post with soldiers in a crosswalk) that can still be used now that we are in quarantine.

If you have streak leap, just lock the skill and hold down space bar to lvl sprint
If I remember right, it is the other way around? If you have streak leap you need to manually jump so it does not jump too fast, but if you don't have streak leap, the timing between the jumps are automatically perfect and you just hold down space. Test it out in game on a new horse with sprint and without streak leap and hold down space, please confirm it for me (I don't play BDO anymore, but I was hardcore into horse mechanics back when I played, I remember alot, but not all) :P
If your horse is stopping to slide and then you have to press up or down to balance the thingy then you're doing it wrong right when you're on the " object interrupting" the height of the jump?
It was hard trying to understand your question, but I think I do.
If you still get the minigame when you use my method to train sprint. Then you aren't jumping in the correct tempo. You need to jump the split milisecond after the sprint starts. And it is not visible, so you need to jump straight away and then keep jumping to the correct tempo.

Hey, I don't know if you have this in your video: if you have drift and sprint, and you train drift normally like you did in your video, you train drift and sprint equally at the same time~ so if you just train drift first, you'll be done with drift and sprint.
I made this guide to show how to train each skill seperatly.
You can train drift+IA at the same time aswell. I had more success when I trained sprint first, for some reason it felt like having sprint at 100%, my drift failed less, tested this on several horses, had same feeling every time. But I don't know, maby that's just me :P
But if what you say is true, then you can train drift+ia+sprint at the same time by just using the "IA" method in the video :P

I'm trying to use this method for drift training on Xbox.. What is the key binding for W on PC? Need to know what I'm adjusting.
W is forward, so the xbox equivalant for forward I think? the only reason to rebind is so that you dont have to run and drift at the same time with 1 hand, but can use 2.
@@DiaborMagics figured it out. It's actually quite easy on console. Just hold left trigger (sprint) + B (IA) and roll the left analog in a full circle..
jeez... I got a lot of work to do.. gg apprentice training.
my problem is... this doesnt work. my animation seems longer too, your charge gets interrupted it seems. my horse gets knocked back, yes, but your horse ends with its head higher and mine takes a few extra frames to stop and the head ends up lower/actually hitting the air between the dummies. and then i still often get the minigame :(
why doesnt it work? is that for certain horses? I use the t8 pure white i just got
I assume you refer to the Charge traning method. Yes it works for all horses. It's hard for me to figure out what the actual problem is with your description. is it possible for you to record it and upload the video?

Sry to hear that. It might still work on ps4, try digg alittle further, ask around communitys etc. I made this for PC and I haven't played for few years now due studies to game Dev artist, so all I can do right now is give advice what I would do myself if I were in your shoes! :) goodluck!

it gets easier at higher %. Just keep doing what you are doing :D
I have 20% in my drift skill and all time I have the mini game ... and when I succeded the animation if drift not cancel as in the video.

You gotta do these in the right order: 1. sprint, 2. drift, 3. IA, 4. Charge
how do you bind W to your mouse?
In "Action Hotkeys" > "Move Forward" (W) > Change it to "Mouse Function 2" or "3" :P
Im trying your instant accel tip and im not getting it to work at all :/ . Im struggling even for consistent Shift + A/S for drifting while spamming W, sometimes the mount stops running and drifting alltogether and just spins around, no matter how fast i spam W. And even changing to another button does not help.
I got 145.6% speed, 149.2% accel and 150.8% Turn and 143% break T8 horse, if that info tells anything.
I have not played for over a year now. I am mot aware of any recent changes. Though i recognice what you describe. And it might simply just be that you have too low drift and AI skill to be able to spamm it. I had similar issues many Times. But as soon as I got (lets say a random number) 20% on drift and AI, I was able to spamm the remaining 80% without any issues.
I am sorry if this is not helpful. I recommend you to visit the horsecommunitys largest discord channle that should be linked in the description. Many of them I came very close to while playing, and I trust their horse knowledge 200%. Also they are more up go date than I am, but litlary all of them watched my training videos aswell, so they will know exactly what you are talking about if you refere back to this video. "Sockas horse training video" and they Will be like "aaah!!"

@@Sockaa Thanks for the reply. I actually had drifting max trained. But i managed to lvl instant accel and S instant accel by just running around the 2 bridges in Heidel for a while, eventually got me to train them fully. Probably took way longer than this but it worked :D .

What did you mean when you said rebind W to mouse1? wont it effect your gameplay, you'd have to change it back to W afterwards so you can walk forward, how did you do this?
You want to bind "W" (walk foward) to a mousekey so that you can easily spam "walk forward" to use this method as efficiant as possible. You only do this rebinding to train the skills. after your skills are fully trained, you go back to default bindings or whatever bindings you had before.

Damn, the charge one doesn't work anymore. The dumbies have no collision now. Do you know of any other way? If not, thanks for the help with the others, you saved me a bunch of time!
You can still charge people in pvp if that helps. Like ask for a friend to help you. I do not know why they removed collision from dummys. if its because of training charge, or something else. Cannot even attack them with weapons.
Yeah it's super unfortunate since I watched your video a month back when I got a nice t7 horse with Sprint, IA, drift & Charge and needed to level the skills fast. Didn't realize charge can be used to troll other players until now. I checked Heidal & Velia and those dummies don't work.
Part of me wants to check other parts of the map to see if they forgot to remove collision on some dummies somewhere, but I'm sure once they changed the code it applied to every dummy on the map. Oh well, I'll see if any of my friends are bored lol. Thanks for awesome tutorials anyways man, look forward to seeing whatever you put out next!
I checked Velia and Heidel, both no collision. Best option right now is to pvp and charge a friend.

There is an S:IA video as well that I added when S:IA came into the game if I remember right. Anyhow, there is a video for it :D hehe. The charge I don't think there is any trick for, you might be able to cancle the animation like the S:IA trick video.

I tested it some week ago and still worked. You might press wrong timing. Also note, at low % you will fail alot still. as the % gets higher, you level it faster and faster.
just did it today, sometimes the mini game comes up but for the most part it worked amazingly.

Yes it still works. not having sprint at 100% might affect the method, but I am not 100% sure yet, cus I also had issues on one of my horses wich did not have sprint, but the method still worked at higher % without issues.
i'm confused, when i train drift i normally keep falling off my horse, how are you staying up? i'm doing what you're doing

YOu might also not time it right, combined with low % of the skill. makes you fail alot.
also question: if you could pick 2 out of sprint, instant acc, drift. what would it be? my horse now has instant acc and drift, would combining these also with sprint make my horse a lot faster??
Sprint does not make your horse faster if you are spamming drift+ia. The absolute best skills to have is Charge + Drift + IA.
Sprint is more of a "luxery" skill. Like if you get tired in your fingers for some reason, just sprint instead :P
Thoug in some cases, sprint+IA is faster than Drift+IA, but it is very rare imo. It happens a few times on the white horses with high speed+acc, and low brake. If you read my guide in the desctiption, you will understand what brake does to your drift.

still works now in 2021 :). though i did find something cool you can do aswell to train drift faster if you have instant accel, you can do the same as shown in the video but also mash F aswell to trigger instant accel, it makes drifts come out a lot quicker than without it, obviously uses more stamina but the training is a lot quicker

I am not sure what you mean. Could you be more specific?
"Hope" is not a skill. It's the name of the "failstack" trough horse skill change coupons.

I do not know, but I assume they should. I mean, why not, the cancle mechanics is what does the trick. I Havent played console, but I would assume BDO on console also have cancle mechanic on spells and horses.
Tried it just now and it didn't work so well for IA. It activates IA like 2 times in a row and then goes into the minigame...
It is most likely because you have too low % on your skill. Also could be your timing on pressing the combinations. If I remember correctly, it should be ALOT easier once you reach like 20%.

every time I try the method for drift it works for a little bit and then my game spazzes out and I can't stop my character from moving lol... I usually have to restart my game to make it stop since I cant even open the settings menu, no idea what causes this x_x
No idea, sounds wierd. Might be hardware bug, try unplug your keyboard or mouse if it happens again

@@cassandra9581 In some cases it has been like, some keyboards can just handle 3 button pressed down at the same time, and some can do like 5. I do not know what it is called, but there is a word for it. NP
charge is not working anymore. The horse is not attacking the dummys. Or did i something wrong?

The video was made for idividual skills thoug :P IA, DRIFT + Sprint can be trained together with the IA method in video
Discovered that streak leap prevents it from increasing. Just have to tap jump land , tap, land, over and over.

Charge trick so genius that its been removed.. Dummies do not target anymore non obstacle and they are spaced further apart.. Only idea I have is to stable your "to be trained horse" in Olvia and when you create a new character get your mount out and train at the functional dummies when you first get to leanr how to use attacks.. I haven't tried this yet but of the top of my head its the only similar solution.
They did actually not remove it. The reason they changed the dummies in the citys is because kakao are prepairing some kind of "afk training" if I heard correctly, later on you will be able to train your character stats somehow by attacking the dummys while beeing afk.
Some dummies are still aviable to use this horse charge training technique, there are a few locations that still works. I personally use the location near the npc Oliviero, west of heidel.
If you watched the entire tutorial, you will also see an video popping up during charge trick, that shows new location and how to train it at that location. at 3:43 you can see this pop up in the video.

Yea, if you have 100% trained on a skill, you will never fail it, so it will never throw you off if you got 100% on THAT skill you use
