Wow, it is a great restoration. It took a lot of patience and persistence to get this pen back to its working condition. The results justify the effort. Enjoy the pen, Doug.
Buon Natale Doug, to you and the family. Like father Carducci used to say “Coincidenza??” in sit-coms that you are almost too young to remember. Opened an eye in bed this morning and the ceiling projection clock indicated 5am here on the Island. I debated to get up and ink a pen I resurrected yesterday afternoon but no; I decided to linger in bed and watch a bit of you tube. Your Sunday morning resurrection video was the first thing that came up and so I thought “Coincidenza??). I am going to ink it up after my second espresso. Just so you know Doug, a few months ago I “discovered” you and then the forgotten key of my old pen collection case. Now, alongside the gorgeous amber and galaxy colors of the newly acquired Penbbs, Moonman and Hong Dian (thanks to you Doug), some of the oldies are coming out of the old pen-case such as this Shaffer Balance that is thirsty for fresh ink this morning. Again, thank you Doug for the gift that you continually bring to so many pen-lovers. Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and prosperous New Year 🎄 Carlo Vancouver Island
Merry Christmas Doug, thank you for a wonderful video, for giving life once more to these venerable Sheaffers, a pen company I grew to deeply love from using a Targa my Mum purchased.
Merry Christmas, Doug! What a special video. Thank you for all the videos you have posted this year. I find your presentation and style relaxing, informative and fun and its a great distraction from my stressful work. You put so much work into your videos and I truly appreciate them! :D
This is a handsome set and in my opinion the personalization adds to the set. Every vintage pen or set originally belonged to someone - with personalized pens we at least get to know the name of that person (who gave with love or honor). In this rare case we get to know the name of the giver.
I’m so glad you left Joey’s name on the pen and pencil. Honestly, it always disappointed me when you polished out previous owners on vintage pens. Enjoy your videos, looking forward to 2024.
Merry Christmas Doug! Your videos have given me a lot of viewing pleasure in 2023, and I'm looking forward to 2024's offerings. I was blown away by the quality that Schaefer put into this pen, and your restoration makes the pen, once again a thing of beauty. Wow.
Merry Christmas Doug! Beautiful Pen Set, and excellent restoration work as always. I'm happy with the coincidence that I just bought a Sheaffer Imperial Touchdown at auction, for what I considered a good price (which would be equivalent to less than 45 US dollars). And the motivation for this was your video about it, from 4 months ago. And of course all the videos with the whole story that you tell and enchant us. Thank you for a wonderful 2023 and I wish an even better 2024 for you and your whole family.
A quality job on a quality pen, I Doug. I love the Sheaffers with this design, and it's touching that this pen has a story. Enjoy the fruits of your efforts on this pen set. Have Happy Xmas and an even better New Year.
We have a TV show called "The Repair Shop" where people bring treasured items that need to be fixed by a resident expert. You could join as the pen man Really satisfying to go through the process and a great result ... Bravo! Also, what a good present for a bride to give to the groom. Thanks for all the videos in 2023. Merry Christmas.
I recently got a Sheaffer Snorkle pen & pencil set in the original case (even had the little tin of extra pencil leads) writes beautifully! I've been watching as many vintage pen restoration videos as I can find & have 'almost' convinced myself that I should give it a try! We shall see if I can work up the nerve to try... Lol
This old advertising video for the pen... Nowadays manufacturers don't talk or show you the feed like they do so triumphantly! There were no internet forums to exchange information and learn about everything, but at least the manufacturers saw to properly feed the turbo-nerds! Congratulations on this impressive project, and Merry Christmas.
Seasons greetings Doug & all the best for new year.Great video,I have repaired at least a dozen triumph vac fillers & found if you soak the shaft seal about 3/4 of them don’t need replacing they have just dried out, once you silicon the shaft it keeps it as it should be.
I've always liked Sheaffer pens, but just haven''t gotten around to buying one yet. This is an incredible example of an amazing looking model. Nice job restoring it to its former glory! Merry Christmas, Doug!
Bravo, Doug. An excellent Christmas show. One of these Triumphs will be my grail pen for next year. They are a lot trickier than Parker vacumatics, and you sailed through the challenge. Thanks for a really enjoyable episode. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and happy New Year. Cheerio from the Dingoes.
Interestingly, this nib reminds of some of the stuff Ian Schon of Schon Designs is doing with his pens, specifically his new Monoq nib. Very similar in appearance. I wonder if he used this Sheaffer as inspiration for his design.
Merry Christmas Sir! Happy Holidays! Just had a quick question...I bought a Pilot E95S Fine Nib from Japan and expected it to be as smooth as my Pilot Kakuno Medium nib or Jinhao fine nib; however its not as consistent or smooth. Is there some issue with the pen? What can I do to improve the smoothness of the pen? I am beginner, so I don’t really know how to fix it. Thanks 🙏
Happy holidays! The best way to tune a nib is to follow my friend and colleague Stephen Brown th-cam.com/video/r_bNRrPk5MY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=t7h8tpU7UAa0tsIQ

Hey, I want a nice pen for new year but I am confused between gravitas flagship, Leonardo Messenger and opus 88 omar. Please tell me what would you go with if you had these options.
I've not tried an Omar but it is similar to the Bela which I own and love. It is a big pen which takes too many turns to remove the cap. I've not tried a Messenger, but most, if not all, Leonardo pens are excellent. I'm unsure of which Gravitas you are speaking, but again, Gravitas pens are excellent quality - though customer service is almost non-existent.
@@TheJigglypuffGuyThe Leonardo (even though I've not tried the Messenger model). I've got two MZ, three MZG, one Furore Grande, two Furore, and one SuperNova, and they are all great. The Leo Momento Zero is my favourite model.
Heya Doug! Happy NEARLY NEW YEAR! I have a gift which I want to send to You. It is an inoperable old "LADY SHEAFFER 642" Doug I am a big fan of inkquiring Minds, and I can honestly say that I've watched NEARLY every episode(possibly every episode) You have released. Please allow Me to ship the pen to You, so it can be featured in a "Resurrection Sunday" someday in the New Year. I'm a fellow Canadian, and I call BRITISH COLUMBIA home, in a City near Vancouver, named New Westminster. It would be an honour to contribute to Your channel. & I WILL pay for the shipping fee Myself. Oh and FYI the nib is an upturned 14k fine gold nib, AND the built in ink converter is completely unusable, a single squeeze and the giant split in the Rubbery material is apparent. It definitely needs to be replaced. And the outer finish is spotted with little dots, I'm not sure why. Well anyhoo, please lemme know if You are able to recieve the parcel from Me, and I'll send it out ASAP. & I hope to hear from You soon. THANKS! YOURS SINCERELY STEVEN.
