Great video! I have a very similar sku system. Every shelf and bin in labeled as well as every item gets a number just like your's. Im up to over 8300 in the labels and have not lost a single item since implementing this system.
For auditing, whenever i put newly listed inventory into a bin, I fully audit it at that time before any new inventory goes in it. Its been working great for several years.
Processes and efficiency cannot be stressed enough in this business. The time savings go directly to your bottom line.
Thats awesome and that is a ton of SKUs. It seems like a lot of work to create a system until you cant find an item then everyone wishes they had a system. Thank you for watching 🤟
Good advice, and nice setup! I had inventory growing pains too, thought "Oh I remember exactly what's in each tub!" and boy was I wrong. Had to cancel a few orders over time until I revamped my system. I also once broke my leg pretty bad and had to have someone else pull my orders since they were in the basement and I couldn't do stairs. Finally I had to shut down for a weekend and spend the whole 2 days re-doing my whole system.
Having to go back and redo it all is the worst. Thank you for watching 🤟
@@mallwydmanlobbi oh my! I think we’ve all made some blunders a time or two when we started.
@@RebelRosey So true, and if anyone told me they never made a single mistake yet are doing high volume sales online, I'd doubt it! XD
Thank you, I like your setup. I am not such a large seller, but do use Sku's, bins, shelving etc. I would forget where I placed items for sure.
Yes SKUs help free up much need space in my memory bank. 😀 Thank you for watching 🤟
Excellent video filled with tremendous value. The detail insights you give in this video is so informative and helpful for anyone selling. I wish it was available to me when I started because I have been on many item hunting trips in my garages before I learned that I needed a system that was effective. I subscribed, thank you.
Perfect. That's my goal, share everything I wish I knew when starting. Thank you for subscribing 🤟
We just started in June 2024, we have evolved to racks so far. As a matter of fact we have the same racks as you. The black ones. They are very strong good quality easy assembly racks. Not cheap but what good rack is. From the looks of it you must have at least 2k in racks alone. We still have yet to invest in all the tubs and separate storage bags with a sku.. Our store has barely over 100 items listed thus far and I can already see I better get on this sku before its like what you and many others talk about which is a pain in the but to set up if you wait too long. Subscribed.
Yes I would definitely start putting SKUs on items now. It'll save you so much time in the long run. Thank you for subscribing and watching 🤟
Appreciate you highlighting your audit process. I just talked about my very similar process (only timing is different) in a recent video where I do a simple additional step to what you do. I change the audited bin ID and reassign all the items to that new ID. Simple to do for active items (direct from the active items list) and always seems to have a positive effect on sales. Great content once again!
Nice! I'm glad that works for you. Thank you for watching 🤟
Lots of passion here...

The first couple of shelving units, maybe 200 listings I could easily file away in my brain. But it got confusing, very quickly. Didn’t take me long to create a spreadsheet 😂 Once I started accumulating 1000s of books I was very glad to have a well set inventory system. Every single book/ listing gets its own poly bag for protection & item number with a shelf location, this info gets put into my spreadsheet & the custom sku field on eBay. Thankfully I don’t need bins because books can stack so nicely.
Thanks for sharing your system, I just subscribed (-:
Awesome. I'm glad you found a system that works for you. Thank you for watching and subscribing 🤟
Pro tip. If you can't find an item reach out to the buyer and tell them that the items damaged or lost. Then give them the option of either canceling or picking something of similar value from your store. If they say cancel, then you tell eBay customer cancel which usually happens. Cheers Graham
Be careful with that. Ebay has been catching on to that from what I have been told. They will even check messages and hold you responsible in some cases. Thank you for watching 🤟
Also, sometimes customers want pictures if the item is damaged
I’ve done this twice and both times I received the defect because eBay read my messages.
@@theaussienurseflipper.8113 Yeah that situation seems fair enough to cancel on. I am glad it worked out for you.
I started in 98 with ou's from the get go I've had a squ system. I have bins, shelves, racks, and my favorite are my 75 six drawer file cabinets we have three eBay stores and we have 1,200 to 2,500 active listings on average month between the three stores.
We're also Amazon sellers but thats easy compared to eBay lol
Awesome! I have heard file cabinets work well for certain items. Thank you for watching 🤟
I email the photos to myself so I have a permanent record of them since I do cross list.. the title subject has all the pertinent information, easy for searching, I also have someone that helps me list, they're not going to want to hunt for pictures... depending on a phone is probably not the best plan to be involved with.... I also wrap all of my books because that keeps them fresh & standing up straight... there's a certain amount of dust that can accumulate in a space..Laxvespa-LosAngeles
Awesome I'm glad you found a system that works for you. Thank you for watching 🤟
And don’t take too many pictures at once in your phone. I had a great inventory system and lots of pictures and when my phone updated I lost pictures. So I had to go through piece by piece to see what items had got deleted. So then those items I had to take out reteam retake the pictures it was a nightmare.

Thank you for the support. Glad to have you here!
Did you go ahead and send the fiirst customer the right product also?
No I never heard anything from that customer. It's strange possible someone who was drop shipping items or buys so much online they don't even know what they ordered
Is your garage climate controlled? If not, is the area you live in fairly warm during the summer?
It is not climate controlled. It is insulated which helps. I live in Utah and it does get pretty hot.
I must be a remarkable fellow. 2100 items and no SKU system. items just go where they belong. Kinda like your video game and shoe bins. When a location fills up it is divided by brand, type, size etc. Disney figures here marvel, figures there. Wii games here, xbox games there.
Haha that's pretty impressive. I'm glad it works for you. Thank you for watching 🤟
How is the same but twice I spent several hours looking for an item. Never again
@@theaussienurseflipper.8113 My buddy has a SKU system and when something is misplaced he spends hours looking in every bin. I never have that issue. Craftsman wrenches only go here. Snap -on in that drawer. Kinda like a grocery store.

That sounds like a long day. I try to photograph and list the items all in the same day. I find it easier to create the listing with the item still there in case I need more info.
@ exactly!
But when I was new I didn’t realize how long it took me at first to list so I was trying to be prepared if I was in my car waiting or at the hospital with someone I could always be doing work. That’s why I made that comment hopefully no one else will make that same mistake Because in the long run it cost me a lot of time instead of saving me time. So now I’m trying to do exactly what you say.
