I freaking love this game!! So addictive! This with Tetris-Effect-like animated background environments would make it a top 25 for me.
Great review Bryan. I bought this at launch and although skeptical at first, I've ended up liking it a lot... especially when I tried it with the AIM controller!
Boxed In really is as simple as it looks, and with a reasonable price, a must have for anyone wanting a quick game they want to be able to take turns with family & friends.
My current issues are:
- Smooth turning isn't as smooth as it could be. Would like the performance of this to be optimised.
- Having blocks from above is a nice option, but found it too straining for the neck haha.
I'd love for the developers to expand on this game, but I'm not sure how likely that is. Here are some fun ideas I had, accepting that these will never happen xD
- More challenges / levels within the solitaire mode like Bryan mentions in the view.
- Multiplayer... having a player stand at each side of the room with the blocks expanding from the middle.
- Greater sense of threat as the blocks approach you. I imagined having a halloween theme where the blocks-from-below level, you have some massive spider or creature on the ceiling, making you really not wanna get pushed up there haha.
Finally, good luck going for the Platinum everyone! The Solitaire level in 45 seconds is a tricky one, but nothing will beat the horrible grind of 9,000 games.
- I actually thought the smooth turning was pretty good. Did you turn up the speed?
- The best way to play blocks from above is laying on the floor
- and it’s not 9000 games. It’s 9000 color matches. Not that bad ;)
It’s fascinating to think that after all these years, and even with Tetris Effect, there hasn’t been a Tetris-like game that puts you right below/in front of the blocks for PSVR until this one.

This looks very cool, and pretty much what I at first thought VR games would be like. A must buy for me!
I might get this one. I’ve always been partial to match 3 games and VR adds an interesting new dimension to it.

Great review. The best puzzle games are simple in design that offer complex strategy, which Boxed in does pretty good. It’s a fun game for the puzzle game crowd and I would love to see more psvr games like this, at this price, of course.
