The famous Banh Xeo ( Vietnamese ) is very different from the Cambodian kind. Vietnamese use a lot of oil to make the batter so crispy. In Cambodia, They don't do that at all. I have to add this after finishing watching your video. That is the trait of the Cambodian people. When you travel along the road and get stuck some where you don't know anyone. Cambodian people will never let you stay in the open. They will open their house for you to stay overnight and ofcourse some foods. They will never let you go hungry. That's Cambodia. That is the heart of the cambodian society that most westerners don't know.
Cambodians also add toasted coconut flakes into their Banh Cheo filling and never any meat chunks cooked as part of the the crepe itself like the vietnamese do. Also the sauce is slightly made differently too.
@@crew I actually went to vietnam during this trip and I will say that both are good but I like how the vn use a thin rice paper to eat with! Video coming in the near future!
I had Vietnamese Banh Xeo in Orange County, CA. They served it with the thin translucent sheet. It tasted weird with it, so I didn't use it. I still preferred the Khmer version with toasted coconut flakes in the filing. My Banchiao usually included lots of toasted coconut flakes and bean sprout, and I like my dipping sauce a little more too.... 😃

I'm surprised battambang is not getting a lot of infrastructure development the way phnom penh capital is getting. It's the second largest city in cambodia. It's also strategic being much closer to Bangkok than phnom penh is. If cambodia wants to attract more tourists, they should develop this city along with koh kong. Battambang could be a trading and tourist hub and would benefit from its close proximity to bangkok.
They have plans to build a new highway to connect siem reap within the next 5 years and also have been working on infrastructure improvements within the city.
The guy who grinned the fish has cigarette in his mouth; REALLY? 🤮 Although, I didn’t that it was lit. I have seen the hidden video here in the US where a guy was smoking while grinding the beef and the ashes fell into the meat and he didn’t care, unbelievable! Thanks for sharing your videos ❤
Thank for your uncensored experience of the fish processing vendors. The total lack of hygiene is a reminder of why these countries are considered third world. 🇰🇭 The fact that this mass production is for distribution to markets and restaurants throughout the country is frightening. It’s not unfair to presume that the rat and rodent population is off the charts and their waste and excrement is in the sauce 😮
Hopefully the new initiatives will advance it in the next couple years. I saw them redoing alot of the sewage system so maybe it's a sign that they are working on infrastructure first.
So sorry -- I much prefer the looks of Siem Reap. That city is much more beautiful by comparison to this place in my opinion. Not comparing the country surrounding them just within the city's. Being an old retired American who only speaks English - the large expat community would also be desirable companionship ! And the cost of living is hard to beat anywhere. The airport has cheap one hour flights to Bangkok for fun or quality medical care. So -- "what's not to like" - ? - It has what is needed. (even 50 cent beer)

It's a lovely area, the city itself has a lot of potential
Great travle video.
What’s the song in the intro? It really fits the video ☺️
they allow you to to fly drone in Phnom Penh?
Banh Chao came during the French time. We all have it during the same time. There another Khmer words for it.
What’s the Khmer word for banh xeo?
Awesome bro. Was there last year with my Khmer GF. Yummy food man
how do you feel about the heat there? was way to hot for me all over the country. wanted to run back to U.S after a month
i like your videos ever consider traveling to other areas of southeast asia?
Were you able to come back to USA ?
That's where I want to live when I retire.
I'm planning to build a winter home here :)
Lovely to see.
PS. Men get their nails done these days?
I'm surprised battambang is not getting a lot of infrastructure development the way phnom penh capital is getting. It's the second largest city in cambodia. It's also strategic being much closer to Bangkok than phnom penh is. If cambodia wants to attract more tourists, they should develop this city along with koh kong. Battambang could be a trading and tourist hub and would benefit from its close proximity to bangkok.
They have plans to build a new highway to connect siem reap within the next 5 years and also have been working on infrastructure improvements within the city.
Khmer Banh Chow and Vietnamese Banh Xeo are not the same. Like many Asian dishes there are regional variations catering to the local taste.
How much the classy hotel brother?
I paid $40 per night
It seems like Mi Kola = មីកូឡា is not in the video ។ Anyone born in Battambong knows Mi KoLa.
The fact that this mass production is for distribution to markets and restaurants throughout the country is frightening.
It’s not unfair to presume that the rat and rodent population is off the charts and their waste and excrement is in the sauce 😮
Yes, where are the food inspectors?
They been making it this way since before food inspectors.
I was so surprised that there were not flies, I honestly think that the smell is so potent that it keeps pests away!
@@saviyou this is a classic example of why food inspectors were created, lol.
Battambang needs a 5 stars hotel
Only in Cambodia is the flash is cheaper then a new car lol 😅
Battambong city is stagnant it looks almost exactly the same way it did 10 years ago.
Hopefully the new initiatives will advance it in the next couple years. I saw them redoing alot of the sewage system so maybe it's a sign that they are working on infrastructure first.
Hey Savi, do you have contacts to the land owner that’s selling that land in Phnom sompov?
You should go buy in Kampot. I know someone there.
Only my uncle but so many people are asking about it already
Be careful about buying land in Cambodia. Alot of shady people
So sorry -- I much prefer the looks of Siem Reap.
What the name this hotel
Classy Hotel
