Hi! I recommend the echo show 8 if they are close in price. The larger screen and better sound makes a big difference when you are deciding where to place your echo shows. Echo show 5 are great as an intercom, small display for nightstand but the echo show 8 can be used in almost any room.
Please help. Amazon can't help me. They cant figure out whats wrong with my Echo Show 5 3rd Gen even they already replaced my unit. Whenever Spotify is playing, the song always freezes on the last 15 seconds before the end. And its painfully slow even on responding. Unlike my Echo Dot, always fast and seamless. I even talked to Amazon rep and we tried everything and still did not solve the issue.
The reason for this is that netflix is supported on the 2nd generation and then they removed it on the 3rd generation. You thought you're getting a good value buying the 3rd generation but no.
The lack of Netflix is curious on the 3rd Gen. Who or what is responsible for that? Will it be available eventually? Why the regression? So assuming I own neither of these (which I don't), which one do I buy? In what scenario do I buy one over the other?
If you can wait and the echo show 5 does not have enough tech for you, the new echo show 8 has drastic improvements already over the show 5 with better camera, tracking, and ai features. But I don't think it comes with Netflix either.

even your second gen is faster than mine. For me the best still is echo dot 3, I have a echo show 5 2 gen, echo dot 5 gen, and the first one has faster responses, listens everywhere, good sound quality.
As long as alexa stays as "not smart" as it is right now, I really don't see why I should upgrade from a 40€-50€ speaker to a 110€ one. Maybe it's better in english, but over here alexa does not want to understand 90% of what I ask it to do. Frustrating.
Im interested in the speed ,,gen 2 compared 3 ,,is it much faster the 3 rd one ?

I got Gen 3 for 40 bucks at best buy what a steal...however the only big difference I noticed was the sound..
