    This SAK is my favorite model. It's everything I need for out in the woods and nothing I don't all in a more compact size.

    I bought this tool a few years ago. My main purpose was to have a saw and blade with me for doing garden work. I liked it so much, that I bought a sheath for it. Later on, I made a custom sheath for a pair of bypass pruners, a weed tool, and the Walker. This is now my set for garden work.

    What a timely review -- I just ordered one a few days before. I have a bit of a collection of Swiss Army Knives but I'm quite drawn to this for its simplicity, small/light, and humble demeanor.
    Cheers from Canada

    Great knife. Rumour is Victorianox has discontinued it though. It still appears on their website but hasn't been available for months. We'll see. Would love to see an Alox version of this.

    I need to get one of these. The last one I bought was a recruit and I love it. To me the recruit is the perfect daily carry but the Walker is better suited for hiking. I plan to keep a walker in my backpack.

      The Camper is in my Top 5 SAKs (with Huntsman, Pioneer, Farmer and Forester). And I see its tool combination to make it the top Victorinox spirit knife.
      The Walker too is a very cool and useful tool. I wish it somehow had the awl though.

    Loves my waiter, when I lost it, replaced it with the wenger camper. I like the walker but it bothers me the lack of tools on the back, such a waste of space, maybe they thought it would be more comfortable to saw with.

    I've just bought one of these Walker knives and first looks are really good. I have it as an EDC knife for everyday tasks. I live in tge UK and the knife laws are very strict so tge non locking is really good for me.
    And for camping and bushcraft it is a very useful tool.

    There are several smaller Victorinox models with saws, and, locking blades. 85mm Evogrip series. And in wood. My S17 and S18 have saw and scissors, and locking blade. And the flathead lock with pressure. The S18 has a full Phillips instead of corkscrew.
    Many bigger locking Victorinox models, both 111mm and 130mm.
    Victorinox is definately a lock blade company, and has many one-handed opening models.
    Cheers!

    You can use the corner of the “combi tool” for a number 2,Phillips screwdriver as well.
    I’m becoming a big fan of the smaller saks now, I just purchased a bantam.

  • @miklospinter
    @miklospinter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    "This one is available in Alox" - no it's not, unfortunately. Only Swiss Bianco had a few hundred of them.
    And not all Lumberjacks had the bottle opener, many of them (both Alox and Cellidor) had this combo tool already.
    They said that the new thing about the Walker is that it has toothpick and tweezers whereas the regular Lumberjacks did not have those scale tools - but actually, some of them did, so I rather consider this as a renaming of an existing model.
    Anyway, I love mine, very small and capable, perfect for a pocket sized survival bag (which might not make sense to many people, but it's for sure better than nothing). Would even be better in Alox...
    My favorite is the Soldier/Pioneer.

    • @michaelkulman7095
      @michaelkulman7095 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, a lot of multitools don't have a saw and this is a minimalist way to add in one and if you had the old knifeless Fuse it's perfect as you get a saw and knife with the small blade being handier but admittedly duplicative but t so what it's small and handier.
      I believe the old discontinued knifeless Fuse weighed only 5 ounces!
      Without a locking blade it's legal in the UK too.
      Similarly if one has no scissors on your multitool the SAK Compact is a great minimalist way to get a scissors. You can spread the weight around to different pockets this way. Too bad they dropped the
      Walker because it filled a niche and was pretty inexpensive for a SAK with a saw.
      I like the lightweight ones like the Walker, the Waiter, the Compact and the Bantam
      for daily pocket carry.
      Sure they make just a knife but that little multitool does a lot of things for it's tiny weight.
      I go this route and skip the keychain tools altogether and sometimes I carry a light (5 ounce)
      multitool or pocket clip knife...

  • @heribertm8783
    @heribertm8783 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The screwdriver on the combination tool you can not only use for flat screws. It also works on phillips screws!
    Try it.

  • @robbabcock_
    @robbabcock_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I might have to pick up a Walker! I've got a lot of SAKs but occasionally it's nice to have a slim, lightweight knife for pocket carry. Normally I carry a Spyderco as my EDC but for hiking and camping those extra blades/functions are nice (especially the saw, can opener and scissors).

  • @thehairywoodsman5644

    this is absolutely my favorite SAK ! it has everything I need to make a little fire except a ferro rod .
    there's a product called firefly I think .. that's a tiny ferro rod that fits where the toothpick or tweezers go . seems cool I don't have one though.
    I subbed.

    Great review and a very nice and useful knife, I keep it as a spare in my EDC pack. :)
    PS: The combo tool certainly saves space but I don't find it to be better than the combination of dedicated can opener (with a small flathead that works with Phillips screws) and bottle opener (with bigger flathdead and wire stripper) - more functions. Plus the combo tool is a pain to use on Phillips.

  • @Dracomies

    I just bought one a bit overpriced but imo worth it. I could technically go for a Climber or Huntsman for much cheaper but I love how this tool has precisely what I need and no extra fluff. Getting more and more difficult to find these and will soon be out of stock everywhere.

    Thanks for demoing the can opener. I've used the other style they have but not this one. I'm thinking about one of these for my hiking trips as a stripped down light weight option .
    My favorite edc Victorinox is the Tinker. I hate bulk in my pockets. The Tinker is the smallest option I've found for a useful multi tool / knife. I actually use all the tools on the Tinker. So I'm not carrying dead weight and bulk. I have a Hiker for days I want to add a saw to the Tinker.

    Walker’ın gövde üzeri boş olması onun bıçak ve testere ile keserken daha çok kol gücü ve gövde yükü uygulanmasına olanak sağlar. @@greatamericansurvival that's funny. Poor translation I suppose. I carry a variety of SAKS but my top five would be the Evogrip 18, Huntsman, Sportsman, Tourist, and the Wenger Highlander. I always pair these with either a Classic SD, Wenger Esquire, Executive, or Rambler on my keys. I also carry either a Handyman or Swisschamp as well when camping or otherwise outdoors. The big boys go on my belt in a Zermatt leather sheath. Additionally I have a Walker with a lanyard that has a 1/4" x 2" Ferro rod braided inside. The lanyard is made of survivor cord which has waxed natural fiber in it for tinder along with fishing string, sewing thread, and steel wire for snares. This stays in my pack and is always in my pack as a last resort means of starting a fire.

    🆘 I accidentally got locked inside a Walmart and I was able to survive due to having a Swiss army knife.
    I was able to break the glass and get some gunpowder to start a fire inside the store to keep warm.
    I then used the knife to cut open the packages of Oscar Mayer wieners for food.
    Water wasn't an issue due to aisle 14.
    The fire set off the sprinklers which set off the fire alarm and the cops/fire trucks arrived.
    I was saved and the nice police even gave me a hot meal and a cot to sleep at the police station in this secure metal room.
    There is no moral of the story other than me being on a 14 day quarantine due to COVID self-monitoring binge-watching TH-cam videos. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️.
