You're covered in white, as we also are here in northern Maine, U.S.A. But seeing the stratigraphy in those remnant mountains, however, makes me wonder ... are we perhaps seeing, with the eruptions that began just over the year ago, the beginning of a lengthy series of eruptions that will over a decade or more, eventually build another massive basalt plateau north of (and sadly, likely on top of) Grindavik?
That is funny, I just thought about this system because there are nowadays a lot of earthquakes there. Do you know what your experts say about this volcanic system?
Beautiful landscapes... I am surprised by the small thickness of the snow ; I thought that in the north there should be heavy snow falls but it does not seem to be the case. Of course if the ground is warm, the snow smelts, but is that a "new" effect of the global warming ?
