By comparisson, GTA VC only has Little Haiti as a no go zone and in San Andreas you can completely eliminate the hostile gangs. GTA 4 and 5 have gangs too although they're not very obvious and only attack if provoked.
Little Haiti you could at least drive around. Saint's Mark is a no go zone even with a car unless its bullet proof. Those shotguns are just too deadly. Its the only gang imo that felt like a real threat and something to avoid. Even the Colombians who are the next strongest with their AK is just a no go on foot. GTA 3 had a very special difficulty. Cops were very deadly and getting a 6 star meant you have a very limited time left with the Tanks either blowing you up or the army using them OP M16..
In GTA2 you could gain respect from gangs by killing their rivals, there was a balance system, there was no definitive no-go zone. Too bad they didn't keep that feature in GTA3, i hated the fact that you couldn't go back to Portland just to have fun like in the beginning.

That's how enemy gangs were in San Andreas. It would take them some time to notice you and retaliate, so you were still able to explore their areas off the city. Gangs in GTA III notice and aim at you immediately.
I wish they had a feature that if you're riding in Leone Sentinel, they wouldn't recognize you so you could still roam around Leone turf without being blasted in the first 10 seconds of hanging around there lol
One key detail that people are missing is that Maria told Salvatore before he died that her and Claude were a thing, which is why he set up the bomb car to try and kill him. Then, when Salvatore gets taken out by Claude, the Leone Mafia got even more reasons to hate Claude. He banged the leader's girl and killed the leader!
Well, Salvatore got what he deserved. He betrayed Claude for the truce with the Colombians. He manipulated Claude as a small coin to save his old ass as he knew that he’ll never defeat the Cartel. He wanted to avoid the war with them and he didn’t want to risk. He exchanged a pawn for the truce. He kept being paranoid. He being narcissistic. He kept craving endless power and domination over everything and everyone. He kept betraying before he could be betrayed. He kept poisoning and ruining Maria’s life. And he paid the price. Do you really think that this old sneaky, treacherous, manipulative, narcissistic, sadistic tyrant and psychopath betrayed Claude just because of his young unhappy suffering trophy wife? He doesn’t even love her. And he never did.
The Southside Hoods and the Yakuza actually. Even when the last of the Purple Nines are killed off in D-Ice's final mission "Rumble", the Hoods do not turn hostile towards Claude. The one after effect is that only Red Jacks will roam their turf in Witchita Gardens, with no Purple Nines in sight.
I hear a lot of people whinge about this but imo this is one of the best features of GTA3 and probably the best game in the series for messing around and playing shoot em up. There’s nothing worse than easy AI and easy game. Driving through the mafia area made you hold your breath and be on the lookout. How it should be. Not a cake walk like the other games AI system.
I have played every game in the HD universe and nearly every game in the 3d universe. Personally, San Andreas and IV are the best of the series for me. This game has aged horribly. This is what separates III from VC and SA. In VC, you become the biggest Drug Kingpin and friend with one leader of local but respected gang. In SA, you'll become gangbanger gone legit with ties to two gang leader, with de facto leadership for the biggest gang in your city. While in III, you're just another gun to hire, which betrayed by most of your bosses, killed three of them, and literally has no protection from any gang leader because your revenge causes her death. No wonder III is the hardest in post-story gameplay
What I remember most about GTA III is flipping, exiting vehicle, entering vehicle, getting set on fire, exiting vehicle, entering vehicle, flipping, exiting vehicle, and so on and so on.

Exactly, these guys have some incredible eyesight if they can identify him while he’s driving a car
That's how enemy gangs were in San Andreas. It would take them some time to notice you and retaliate, so you were still able to explore their areas off the city. Gangs in GTA III notice and aim at you immediately.
You're lucky they got any of it to worj with the capability of the time

If only they found out that he killed Kenji. Claude is a dead man anyway 😂
Rays bulletproof patriot comes handy
GTA 3 has the most aggressive enemies
Except Yakuza and Southside hoods
I hear a lot of people whinge about this but imo this is one of the best features of GTA3 and probably the best game in the series for messing around and playing shoot em up.
There’s nothing worse than easy AI and easy game. Driving through the mafia area made you hold your breath and be on the lookout. How it should be. Not a cake walk like the other games AI system.
I have played every game in the HD universe and nearly every game in the 3d universe. Personally, San Andreas and IV are the best of the series for me. This game has aged horribly. If you take it for face value, it's decent at best.
I played this game during my childhood, and I had a blast. It was amazing. It truly revolutionized video games. An amazing experience as long as you have patience and understand that the game is 20 years old. Sad to see it get no attention from the gta community though.
@@Enthusiast230 I was a kid during that time so I played these inside and out...I definitely spent the most time on SA as well (I never liked 4 barely played it - found 5 to be great) but it has a nostalgic effect when u play 3. I haven't played it for at least 15 years and it's all there for me. The noises, sounds, the look, 3 is very unique and underrated IMO. But it is unargued that SA trumps all. Not even 5 can compete IMO but it shouldn't be as its nearly 10 years apart.
Good thing no gangs in GTA 3 walking around and carry an M16. That shit is too OP

This is why Tommy Vercetti had to go to Vice City
He has no business in LC. Sonny sent him to VC to be his representative but instead he turned against him and built his own empire cause he didn't forget about the Hardwood incident which resulted to Sonny coming to VC to take back what was supposed to be his but Tommy was stronger despite lance's betrayal. When you think about it Tommy was the reason why the Leones became the strongest family in Liberty City.
GTA SA: San Andreas
GTA VC: Vice City
GTA 3: Everyone hates Claude
The guy had it coming. CJ chose his allies, Tommy too. Claude just went on killing everyone for money.

Woah! This brought back memories. I remember avoiding this part of town b-cus of the mobsters always destroying my cars with their shotguns. 2 direct hits would pretty much blow up car I'm driving. And the Mafia Sentinel was my favorite car in this game.
After all these years I finally realized this is what Rays bulletproof patriot he gifted you was for….
Grove Street is nothing in comparison to Saint Mark's.
It's called organized crime. Salvatore was a made man Claude wasn't
Grove Street, Ballas, Vagoe they all are street gangs
But In Gta vc, gta 3 there are organized mafias like the Italian Mafia and Russian Mafia
I'm just pointing out how risky it is for Claude to cross over to Saint Marks when the L1 primary weapon is a shotgun or pistol, as opposed to Grove Street members or Ballas who only have access to supplementary weapons that don't do much damage to CJ@@Cricketaddict-v1w

I know it’s not realistic that mobsters in a mob neighborhood would just pull out a gun and shoot at you as you drive by but it still made for a fantastic game
Well, Liberty City's waters still receive the title of most dangerous place in the region, but Saint Mark's deserves its honor as well.
Simple things that would make gta 3 simply better:
-Nerfed m16
-Nerfed Shotgun
-Viewable Map
-Movable Camera
-Very few gangs through out the city after game completion
-Buffed Car Damage

@@Denzix same i'm 20, i played this a little late, when i was 9. I get you but I feel games are becoming more casual and easier by having more scripted missions and they spoon feed you instruction compared to before. Compare morrowind and skyrim, morrowind give you directions to an undiscovered location whereas skyrim puts it on the map, so the sense of accomplishment is less prevalent now. Same here in gta 3, if you took time to learn the map and you find a location, you feel like you have achieved something in game, now especially with pathing in the gps gta iv and v, even a 5 year old can play the game, it's that casual and easy...

I love gta 3.. this game showed me what a real game is. Best game when i played back in 2006
To think they equipped every Leone Mafia with Franchi spaz millitary Shotguns, SMGs etc i think they were pretty much geared for war after Salvatore's death.
And Toni probably took charge as the boss with Joey. He already predicted losing territory during sal's leadership. I can't imagine any gang would mess up with them. And now i think Tony's going to Fix Sal's mistake by taking those territories and deal with the Triads and Cartels. All he need was a reason to wipe the slate clean...and Claude gave him a reason.
They were virtually the most dangerous Gangster in LC.
Edit : Shame they didn't do more on Tony or refer him in HD universe.
