I've mostly used synthetic brushes in my watercolors, and my flat washes always turn out spotty. This has been very helpful for seeing how I can improve. Thank you sir!
Shibasaki sensei, your choice of colors is amazing! When watching you painting, is just like watching a movie and wondering what the end is like! I have to follow each strokes carefully while wondering how each stroke will develop into a final painting. Sensei’s Every painting is so amazing 😆💕✨👍🏼

I stumbled here while reading about flat brushes and I could never imagine in my life that I would be filled so kuch joy watching a video on round and flat brushes. Arigatou Shibasaki San 🌟
Living at a higher elevation means the water dries faster. That's something I've had to take into account with my tools and the flat brush is a favorite; though I've never tried the animal hair brush. It looks smooth as silk. Beautiful work and thank you Shibasaki sensei.
Here is the reason 'why' a flat brush can be used instead of a round brush. Also very interesting to learn a flat wash with a flat brush can be done on a level surface and why a smaller round brush needs the paper to be inclined to avoid brush strokes. :) Excellent as always Sir. Thank you for the detailed lesson and the tips! For large washes I use a flat round squirrel brush, I love it because it holds a lot of colour and since it's not rectangular I can use it for smaller areas, too, if I'm careful.
Very informative and relaxing! :D When I just started I really wondered which brush should I use and I just used the first cheap quality nylon flat brush but I struggled a lot. Than I bought nylon round brush that was not on the point for me either. After that I saw Frank Clarks video and bought a big goat hair brush similar that you used. It was effective especially with painting trees and textures but it felt so big and clumsy. Now I mostly use a big natural round brush you. So the thing is :D It's fun to use new brushes every once in a while :)
This was such an informative video to watch!! I actually watched your next flat-brush first (#22 I believe), and it was really cool to see you use the technique you demonstrated in that video be applied here when you painted the boat.

Uwaaah that's true! I have different brushes but it's not really efficient in painting wet on wet. I think the biggest lesson I'm learning is to paint without hesitation. I always get uneasy and feel like I need to put details and it ends up looking muddy
I enjoy very much the pictures you draw at the end of each video. They remind me of HAIKU poems. Can you please show us how to draw bamboo with black ink??? I would like to learn to draw "the four gentlemen" bamboo, chrysanthemum, orchid and plum tree. Do you think is it possible??? Thank you!!!
