The mavs didn’t really have defensive issues that killed there chances of a championship, it was there 3 point shooting. They can take a hit on defense for a big boost in offensive versatility and fire power. They also got naji and grimes who are both upgrades offensively and very strong defensively.

I think OKC overcorrected after fumbling last year's playoffs. They made no moves last year eventhough we all knew Giddey wasn't a good fit and they lost to a Mavs team they could've beaten with a smart trade, Now they're overpaying a great player who can't space the floor and doesn't solve the "pack-the-paint" strategy teams will roll out against them.
