She has the core of a mezzo so her chest voice can't extend that high as Sohyang so she opts to have a head-dominant matrix. Her upper extension is of Spinto Sopranos, bless her resonance. And FYI, her rasps are healthy ♡♡♡
I love both. But for me Sohyanh at king of masked is just unbeatable, the glorious and exciting tone, the long sentences and the transitions. I think technique wise they quite on par in the chest and mixed departments. Vanessa takes the lows and Sohyang the high belts (for ease, since both have amazing belts). Sohyang has a far better headvoice and more connected registers though.
So glad Vanessa is known at leAst in the communities that respect great singers. She's one of the greatest talents we've ever exported, and while she's respected in Australia, she's not appreciated enough.

It gave such much insight about what she is doing now: She basically wasn't happy with the style of music she was doing and I guess the music industry, so the took a break. She is now doing gospel music and the documentary included so many bits of her singing the new song and she did some improvisation. Her voice sounds even more amazing now.
She recently gave us a teaser by working on a Robin Lynch remix of Gnarls Barkleys Crazy, she has a chestier mix now, although the highest note she hits is D5 in that song. I heard her working on a gospel song where she belts a G#5, which is ever so slightly more balanced now.

The answer is the VOCAL FACH. The way Vanessa approaches her upper notes is different. She has one of these in between voices. Compare the way Patti sounds in the upper register to the way Aretha(Falcon Soprano just like Vanessa) and you will see that Dramatic soprano(Patti & Monica) has a homogeneous sound throughout while Aretha/Vanessa (Falcon) obtain a slight rasp as they go higher.A bit gritty sound. I give a tie simply because both ladies can reach these notes,sustain them and even phrase. They don't share the same vocal fach.So,of course,there will be differences. This is how i think it goes.

Comparing a Full Lyric Soprano (So Hyang) to Falcon Soprano (Vanessa Amorosi) are clarity so different one is a Clasical Voice and the other its an Hybrid voice of the Soprano and Mezzo Soprano so rare to heard dramatic voices but hybrids voices are more rare than those both singers are earned well a musical training so well

It's because they are both distinguished by and often singled out for their immense belting capabilities, hence the title of the video and why it's ONLY featuring belts.
My problem is that the video's with So Hyang only EVER show her belting because there's not much else to her. While she is a good singer and she OBVIOUSLY is. On a whole she's not as solid as Vanessa or Monica Naranjo. There is a reason the Mariah and Vanessa could be made and that's because they're both solid. Anyway as I said on the other video, These comparisons are a set up to make people argue.
I have to agree with you, especially on the last point. They shouldn't be compared in the end. Sohyang is a Lyric Soprano and Vanessa is a Falcon Soprano. Sohyangs higher extremities come natural to her whereas Vanessa's lows are natural for her as she has the core of a mezzo allowing more weight there. No comparrison should be made, I love them both for different songs that I can imagine their voices fitting.

She sounds like 3 different women.Her strong low register has nothing to do with her bright,light head voice.
And her mid belts sound completely different from her high belts.
Pedro jorge Id argue that Sohyang has a little edge over Vanessa in the mixed register because of sohyangs adaptability. Vanessa is amazing too but Sohyang has more control especially on the balance of her mix whereas Vanessa is quite heady most of the time
Sohyang is better. Her belts evenly mixed which is the pitch perfect technique and even her mid belts are superb. honestly who cares if her headvoice sounds different that her low register? You clearly don't know Sohyang otherwise you would know shes master at manipulating her voice. and honestly Vanessa's belts sound exacly the same on every note above G5
The answer is the VOCAL FACH.
The way Vanessa approaches her upper notes is different.
She has one of these in between voices.
Compare the way Patti sounds in the upper register to the way Aretha(Falcon Soprano just like Vanessa) and you will see that Dramatic soprano(Patti & Monica) has a homogeneous sound throughout while Aretha/Vanessa (Falcon) obtain a slight rasp as they go higher.A bit gritty sound.
I give a tie simply because both ladies can reach these notes,sustain them and even phrase.
They don't share the same vocal fach.So,of course,there will be differences.
This is how i think it goes.

Vanessa is a vocal beast.
She is not only capable of reaching the soprano high C,but she is also able to sustain it!I think she can go half step higher.

Comparing a Full Lyric Soprano (So Hyang) to Falcon Soprano (Vanessa Amorosi) are clarity so different one is a Clasical Voice and the other its an Hybrid voice of the Soprano and Mezzo Soprano so rare to heard dramatic voices but hybrids voices are more rare than those both singers are earned well a musical training so well

I mean if you want fairness, why don't you do what you did on the Mariah video and compare So Hyangs lower and middle area's to Vanessa's as well? I think that will make for a really , REALLY cute video :)
It's because they are both distinguished by and often singled out for their immense belting capabilities, hence the title of the video and why it's ONLY featuring belts.
Vanessa has solid low and middle notes too :D I think they should compare their singing on a whole :)
My problem is that the video's with So Hyang only EVER show her belting because there's not much else to her. While she is a good singer and she OBVIOUSLY is. On a whole she's not as solid as Vanessa or Monica Naranjo. There is a reason the Mariah and Vanessa could be made and that's because they're both solid. Anyway as I said on the other video, These comparisons are a set up to make people argue.
I have to agree with you, especially on the last point. They shouldn't be compared in the end. Sohyang is a Lyric Soprano and Vanessa is a Falcon Soprano. Sohyangs higher extremities come natural to her whereas Vanessa's lows are natural for her as she has the core of a mezzo allowing more weight there. No comparrison should be made, I love them both for different songs that I can imagine their voices fitting.
