  • Lady luck wasn’t kind to Andrew Carlson during the Championship Off-Road season opener in Antigo, Wisconsin. Despite near perfect preparation coupled with the one of the best teams and wheelmen in the sport, it wasn’t enough for Andrew to find the top of the box.
Each year the build-up to the Champ Off-Road series consists of a long off-season filled with anticipation and preparation. By all accounts, the Carlson Moto Team had never been better prepared for the season to begin in over 20-years of racing. Unfortunately racing success is comprised of three ingredients: preparation, skill, and a little bit of luck. It was the final ingredient that was nowhere to be found this past weekend as Antigo dished out a series of setbacks to Carlson and his team race after race
Saturday started with Andrew absolutely flying in PRO TURBO SxS where he posted the fastest qualifying time and found himself at the front of the 26-car starting grid. His front of the pack speed however quickly evaporated on the opening lap when a freak sensor failure dashed his run. With extremely limited power, he managed to still scratch out a finish.
That lackluster finish forced Andrew to start at the back of the field for Sunday’s final. Undeterred, he found his right foot firmly planted on the floorboard as he quickly navigated his way from 26th up to 5th in just seven laps. Yet, the dark shadow of lady luck was cast across Andrew’s path once again as a mud-plugged radiator limited his power, forcing him to relinquish his charge to the front and settle for 10th at the line. “Not the result we wanted,” said Carlson after the race. “But one thing is for certain, this Polaris RZR XP Turbo is crazy fast. We know how to address the issue and we know we have what it takes to win.”
In PRO4, where Andrew is ranked amongst the best off-road drivers in North America, expectations were again running high. Qualifying third for Saturday’s final and battling with the leader early on, Carlson caught a rut and barrel rolled his truck on the opening lap. Undeterred, he regained his composure and his battle at the front until he was collected by a multi-truck spin resulting in a 6th place finish.
But the resolve of the Carlson Moto team was on full display as the Antigo weekend wrapped up with Sunday’s PRO4 final. With a mid-pack start, Andrew quickly accelerated and pitched his way to the front with buttery smooth precision, finishing with the number two podium spot.
“This is the best crew we’ve ever assembled for off-road racing,” said team owner Chris Carlson. “I’m confident in our crew and equipment, and Andrew has proven he’s a wheelman that can get it done. Crandon can’t come soon enough.”

Plus, mark your calendars and get your tickets now for the ERX Off-Road National, July 15-16, as the team looks to notch another win in front of their hometown fans.

To make it simple: I would like testing videos preperation, that kind of stuff and then the race analyses,... last year was more like this, but ok I know the competitors are watching also, so there is a border. I don´t like those 1-5 minutes clips only, but ok, is what it is, Wish you all the best in Crandon !
