Besides being my favorite Batman, Batman 89’ is the first movie I ever watched in a movie theatre. I was 8 years old, my parents took me to downtown Los Angeles to the amazing Orpheum theatre and we stood in line for 3 hours to watch it. It was magic, pure magic. I feel in love with movies at that moment. Afterwards, my parents got me the VHS, I must of watched it over 100 times before it eventually died. The Bugs and Daffy intro was so good and the diet Coke commercial was a classic. I remember calling the number and getting my Warner Bros catalogue and wishing I could order the cowl they were selling at the time. I miss those times. Thanks for the memories 👏
We got to see few movies when I was a kid. This came out when I was 14 and I got to see it 9 times in the theater. We then made seeing movies a regular weekend family activity. It held the record for the most times I saw a movie when it was first run in theaters for over a decade, broken by MOULIN ROUGE! (14 times before it hit home video). My favorite Batman movie is RETURNS though, by a mile - though THE BATMAN was my favorite BATMAN anything since RETURNS.
There was a presale of tickets for the movie when it opened 10$ big ones. The theater I saw it in was in the Bay area, Grand lake theater, to a packed house. What I saw was that somehow the movie had a hugeness to the production, despite seemingly condensed into a small frame. Outstanding visual design and details from costumes, and set design. Especially the music soundtrack. It was like seeing a modern star wars movie that everyone experiences differently, yet can identify with certain aspects that seem to ring a bell 🔔❤🦇

Wholesome, love it.
This is one of the few movies I remember still shown in the theater when the VHS tape was released.
That’s wild!
your reviews really take me back man. im sure you got "The Lost Boys" coming, that will be really cool.
Oh boy! I’ve actually interviewed some of the cast of the Lost Boys on my podcast @strange glow video but I will have that coming!

Great take. When watching it again for this review I found myself getting lost in the movie all over again.
Awesome review. I feel exactly like you do.
I only remembered the first time I saw Batman on 📀 from blockbuster years ago.
That’s a good memory to have.
0:00 that a heck of a VHS collection. Why so many Terminators?
Different versions and releases.
I own a Warner brothers ball cap.
if you've got popcorn and a soft drink also, then you're allowed to watch Batman on VHS.
