I feel like every content creator is so focused on "fads" and "fixes" and overcomplicated rituals. It's nice to get back to basics and simple things that work. Thanks, as always, Robert!
It’s not just fads either. They’ll do their make up in the most ridiculous way to get you to watch or stay watching. Then there’ll be people who think this is a legit way to do it. It’s really frustrating and makes those creators less credible, at least if they don’t explain it was a joke or to make fun of said ridiculous “techniques.”
Agreed. I’m at the age where I have to do prep and stick to at least a basic regimen and do an exfoliate, mask etc at least once a week, twice, at best. Most of us are normies who have to go to work and just prefer to not look like a sea hag. These “beats and slays” these creators do, I would have to get up 1 or 2 hours earlier… not happening. The basics: wash, serum, primer, foundation, concealer, powder, brows and lashes. Even eyeshadow isn’t a total must. I’m in my late 40’s, the more you put on older skin the worse we look. You really have to pick your battles… and contour “to the gods” isn’t one of them.😂😂😂
I love how Robert always explains exactly why his makeup application works and also when he says a "trend" isn't something new at all. It is so interesting and makes makeup seem more accessible.
I agree. I am 50 years old and have been wearing makeup since I was 12. In the late 90's, early 2000's, I was a licensed aesthetician and makeup artist. There aren't many truly new ideas. I think "trend" is a bit of a TikTok buzz word more than anything.😊
I would love another part to this that talks about makeup techniques for people who wear glasses. Not just with the foundation coming off where the glasses touch the skin, but also the techniques used with eye makeup to actually make it look good under glasses. Since often times the frames kind of block a lot of the eyeshadow look itself, if that makes sense lol.
I think every frame is different so that’s not easy… but personally I’ve been wearing glasses since forever and just do whatever I want, even if the colours clash with the colour of my frame 😅
@@aquamar1003 Lol yeah, it just sucks when I spend hours on a complicated eye look, (like making designs with the eyeliner, etc), and then the glasses cover it lol. I'm thinking the only thing I could do is wear very big glasses, but I don't know how well that'd look on my face shape. 😄
I love your straightforward, no BS content. Also, congrats on this sponsorship. I love asian beauty products and it’s great to see you using them. And, I’m glad someone is paying for this video, because I’m not.
As a person with hooded eyes I have always started my makeup under the eyes just to outline them better, so the fact that you have shown this as a tip It is such a delighful encouragement. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hooded eye girl here. 🖐🏻 Thank you for the tips. I can't wait to try them tomorrow. 🤩 I've always had hooded eyes and somehow over the years I've "invented" my own ways of doing eye make up, but some days it just doesn't turn out good, so help is always welcome. Love you, Robert. 🖤
I love that Robert's techniques help me figure out WHY certain little tricks really work for me, and then I can tweak them by applying theory to really customize. Simply understanding light & shade more has my hooded, small deep set eyes absolutely popping every day, and I am already seeing how I could get an even better look. I was raised by artists but visual theory isn't 2nd nature, even if I can understand it intellectually, I need an artist to show AND tell. I've learned so much from Robert in the past 18 months- and I love that my makeup doesn't look "on trend," it either looks like an extra flattering but very natural version of my face OR I have my own creativity and self expression in display!! I rarely replicate eye looks literally, but love this kind of content that helps bring the artistic & mathematic/science based sides of makeup together while encouraging me to get creative with my own collection.
THANK YOU for covering hooded eyes! Not all of us are in our 20s anymore. Hahah. Would you say yes or no on cut creases and halo style eye makeup. I have pretty large eyes and lots of lid space above the hood so I like trying out different techniques. Also, I have more round eyes so a lot of the more elongated looks feel weird to me on my own face? Thanks so much for all you do!! ❤
I also have hooded round eyes, and if you'd like to try out a unique eyeshadow placement, I'd recommend trying a kind of reverse halo eye where you actually do a wash of a subtle shading colour all over the lid, and then blend a deeper colour in the centre. I followed an eyeshadow tutorial on dear peachie's channel (i think it was called four easy cut crease looks?) And was surprised how lovely it looked, though i can't attest to whether it'll work for everyone.
@amishbeetroot4989 That sounds like a beautiful technique. My eyes are slightly hooded, and I never felt like halo looks worked on me. Thanks for the suggestion.😊
Your videos are literally the only ones I do not fast forward through half of the content in the beginning because your videos get right to the point! You do not waste any time you get into it and there is no puff.
I started trying to do my makeup like everyone else on the internet for a while and I wondered why it didn't look good on me. Finally, I realized that everyone's face cannot use the same type of makeup style. Once I realized my face is a different shape and starting applying makeup accordingly, my makeup style looks so much better :) oh and I have somewhat hooded eyes too

So yes, we need more of this!
Hi Robert , I was wondering if you could add a mini segment at the end of your videos, where followers who are interested send you a photo of their face and you give them tips on how you would do their makeup, like contour/blush placement, eyeshadow placement or maybe the color you think would suit them the most for an everyday lipstick!
As someone witu hooded eyes, yes, deepen the crease. It helps give the illusion of no hood, and then a bright lid really makes that difference. Halo style is really good for that
I just want to say that an older video of yours, you said that mineral powder covers anything … or something along them lines. I took your advice and you, my friend, SAVED my makeup this morning! I love your content Robert❤️
As someone who just realized they have hooded eyes a few months ago, I love this tutorial!! I tend to just do my makeup on the lid and a little bit on the hood as well, but I’ve always wanted to do a full eye makeup “look” but could never figure out how. Can’t wait to try these tricks!!!!

You had me at hooded eyes. I really think this may be easier than many of the other tutorials I have watched for hooded eyes. Sadly, my age is starting to show through the weight of my hoods now, and I plan to run off and give this a try today.
This tutorial is very helpful. Most others say look straight ahead in the mirror and blend. But I now see how easy and more effective it is to start under the eyes. I am definitely using this method from now on. Thank you!
I love this. Would you be able to show us a really detailed video on a smoky eye? For me, I never know which brush is being used! So maybe show us brushes 1,2,3 etc and tell us which one you're using each time or whether it's a new clean brush? Would be sooo helpful for me, I always get a muddy looking mess when I try!
Thanks so much. For many years I've been implementing your life-saving make up tips. I could listen to you explaining make-up theory all day, you make it so interesting!! ❤
❤ absolutely what I needed! For some reason I actually understand what you are saying, and showing. I have a hard time with understanding what, when, and how, when it comes to makeup. I love the blush you used and how you accentuate your eyes with it. And this is just a beautiful look, I'm so glad you put this out!
I love your tips on makeup for hooded eyes. I watched many before but were so complicated or not working for me I actually entirely stopped using eye shadows. Tried your tips with some old ones I kept (I have trouble throwing away things that are barely used) and it was simple to follow with great result. Thank you

Thank you! I'm eloping next week and it helps me feel more confident to learn a couple new tricks from you today.
This was so good. Great tips for hooded eye peeps like me!🎉❤
Thank you for the hooded eye tips. Tutorials are always welcomed.
Thank you!
In Robert we trust 🙏🏻 seriously, finally someone cutting through the “viral” bs.
Omg!! Your tips actually worked for my incredibly hooded eyes!!! Thanks so much.
I Did learn about the LightTrap
THANK YOU!!
Hooded eye tutorial! Thank you, I have tried so many but this is simple and works…
I bought loads of Peripera stuff from Stylevana the other day because I wanted ALL the doggie free gifts - so cute I can’t wait! 🐶
Thanks so much. For many years I've been implementing your life-saving make up tips. I could listen to you explaining make-up theory all day, you make it so interesting!! ❤
Thank you, I am wearing make up more and more thanks to the confidence you and Johnny Ross give.
More of this please! I've never seen some of these before. I'm so excited to add some of these to my makeup routine!
There are not enough words ...thank you so much for explaining this so well ❤
I would love a video on your tips and tricks for people with almond/cat eye shaped eyes(we don't have a lot of lid space). 💜
thanks, robert!! i also love the rain
I have NEVER seen the hooded eye shadow tip! That’s so simple and brilliant!!!! Tyvm 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤💜
THANK YOU so much for this! Id love a minimalist/best of make up products next ❤❤❤
I love your tips on makeup for hooded eyes. I watched many before but were so complicated or not working for me I actually entirely stopped using eye shadows. Tried your tips with some old ones I kept (I have trouble throwing away things that are barely used) and it was simple to follow with great result. Thank you
I dont know why I'm just now funding this vid cause I watch u all the time!! I have horrible hooded eyes, and they've gotten worse over the years! Thank you so much!! ❤😘
Definitely going to give the light trap a try. I'm so glad you've demonstrated it after the derm reaction!
Thank you for doing a tutorial! I'm very overwhelmed when it comes to figuring out how to do eyeshadow on my hooded eyes, appreciate this so much 😁
I appreciate the coverage on hooded eyes today 🥺
Thank you! You have a way of explaining things that just make it’s so clear and obvious! Will definitely be trying this on my hooded eyes 😊
So many good tips!! Thank you! I always enjoy your videos. I actually save them so I can listen to your voice on the way home from work! So soothing- wish we could hear the rain more what a cool mood ❤
Love tutorials ❤ thank you for including hooded eyes 😊
