I have one of those, a C-54 built in 1944, ex VH-INX ex ansett ana, its in my backyard, well only the forward section, but it is still a large piece of those lovely looking aircraft, i salvaged it in 1994 and had it ever since, it is fully restored inside and out. Australia.
Hi, that's brilliant - lucky you! I'd love to see some photos. Unfortunately, Lady Hope was taken back from the trust by the owner and is in the process of being scrapped. It's so sad and such a waste. Is this yours? www.aussieairliners.org/dc-4/vh-inx/vhinx.html
@@Liberator74 well the side that faces the majority of my backyard is done in silver with some military style stencilling (RHS) but if you rubbed down the silver you could easily see the original ansett ana paint scheme, and the other side still has the original stripes and colours from ansett, a bit faded as the sun is pretty harsh here in south australia. The inside look pretty good, and done in light blue, the cockpit area I restored years back with all the gauges and controls, the cargo area resembles a wartime load of military equipment as I've been a collector of military gear for years. Its been very popular with visitors over the years. Had a bloke visit one time, he showed me his father's flight log, and there was the VH-INX entry, believe me was stoked to sitting in the very same cockpit his father had sat in back in the 1950s, his father actually flew lancasters in the u.k. during ww2, and was quite a well known pilot.
@@philipreiffel5077 Sounds fantastic - a job well done! That man must've been so happy to sit in the pilots seat his father sat in. We have had a taxy run in Lancaster "Just Jane" in England. What an experience! We also collect and display USAAF aircraft related equipment in our B17 Mobile Training Unit at airshows around central England. You can see some in my videos. th-cam.com/video/nYXjV5x5aKw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HZp2TBvT7Mbash7P
What a beautiful machine; I love every rivet on her!! Also great to see aircraft to their 'bare bones', i.e. without inside paneling and refurbishing, because it allows to see their ingenious construction.
Just as I thought all hope was lost and I'd never again see a dc4 fly again this pops up in my reccomndend and they have the end goal to make her fly again

@Liberator74 that's it, there's a lot of pics of my old plane and it's history.
@@philipreiffel5077 Thanks. I've had a look at the history & photos. What livery did you restore it in?
