Indeed, fractions of seconds play a big role in imput heavy games like KOF, and without shortcuts it's almost impossible to time and connect certain combos. You have to be incredible fast and precise to master these games, and some shortcuts make it definitely a little easier to find out the right timing.

They don't want new things because they're too comfortable in the old ones. That's why KoF XV is dying because of low player base (beside of course the online problem). It's hard for newcomer to get into the series. And when they try older KoF they get destroyed.

I love the series. Old school fighting games (16bit aera) are the best with many unique ideas and mechanics, unlike many younger titles, where old content got reused. KoF'98 is my 2nd favourite KOF game, after the great KOF'95. KOF'97 and '02 are 3rd place.

@hermontarmand2404 I'm one of them. I'm into 2D sprite based fighting games only, I'm not interested in the new titles at all. I got stuck in the arcade- and 16bit aera 😅

0:13 In this case, I use the tradicional input because you can confim it. With the input shortcut, If the openent blocked you'll get exposed.
This is one of the reasons why I prefer KOF to SF. Capcom should have copied these kinds of tricks for SF.

a button buffer video would be possible. Buffer by holding buttons and plink in kof 98 or 2002 (just choose some kof and teach how to do these buffer and plink)
What is the meaning of button buffer?
@8SinAm Holding a button for a qcf or a qcb to not be performed and then releasing that button and performing the complete combo

Most players will use input shortcuts. And Orochi Chris has no effective input shortcut :(

Still trying to piece together these inputs like shoot its tough as nails rn Im trying to get K's cr.B×2~3 or (cl.C(2), f+A), qcf+A > f+D, qcf+A > f+B, qcf hcb+P mainly the crouch part.
abaixado fazer um soquinho ou chutinho dar quarto de lua dar baixo e com outro golpe e mais um quarto de lua sempre fiz, porem o bom é praticar o jeito certo, pq as vezes vc só tem tempo de dar um soquinho dependendo da gamplay aí não tem como usar essa manha (buffer)

Anything for 02/02um? Some of the characters have moves in that game that have some overlaps with some of these shortcuts.
The same thing is possible in KOF 2002 and 2002 UM

her cr.B doesn't cancel into special moves, so cr.B qcf+A gives standing A instead of fireball

Chris is It's theoretically possible, but strangely, it's a case where the input doesn't work well. Try 2B(Hold) - 2A - 236(A) - (Release) B - 236 A.
Yeah I know that specially I m a PC player for three decades and yes for ex Kyo second super is ⬇➡ ⬇➡+ A or C and it comes out and his first one is ⬇⬅ ⬇➡ + A or C
I have learned all about fighting games by myself ! Keyboard is way easier than dpad ! And don't tell me when you play on keyboard you don't use arrows for movements unless you are left handed !

i really despise KOF gameplay, all that jumps bs, and the long cuts, i wonder why snk put so much effort in this saga meanwhile games like realbout 2, garou even the last blade, were a second choice, i mean, play the game vs the cpu is ok, but play against humans is a nightmare while in other games is the opposite.
Short hop spam also happens in Smash and nobody really complains there, why would it suddenly be an issue here, this series originated that idea anyways. As for the long cuts, the games would actually be so much worse to play without them it helps so much with avoiding misinputs, and its honestly something I wish other fighting games adopted.
@CamSink i don't play smash so i don't know, what is more simple than 2x qcf?, And kof have lots of 'em, but you can't perform them, makes no sense to me, i still playin' tho, maybe i love it in the future.
@@Notslimy That's cause in KOF you're supposed to combine the inputs of the qcfs with the second qcf. You can also do this in Street Fighter but in KOF it's more important because there are quite a bit overlapping inputs, and the cancel windows are small. If you could easily perform the 2x qcf and have a generous cancel window you end up like SF6 where cancel windows are too fucking big and its super easy to misinput shit.

The input is easy and you apparently have no simple motor skills. Do you want to input with just one button? There is no simpler buffer than this. And literally a qcf.b qcf and button
