you have made a wonderful job of deconstructing your montage into sensible steps. and it represents the technical side of video making. the hardest part is the storytelling. putting it all together. i could suggest you add further content on this specific video and make a complete series out of it.

@@theoutofboundssportsnetwor2500 Thank you!!! Its one of those things you develop an eye for with practice. But I tend to just start by thinking about close details, then mediums, then wide shots to show where I am. COmposition will come.

Thank Danny - you're the guy that I'd hire as a camera person to make my videos wicked. In instructional videos, I find they're so economic that there isn't a lot of thinking about angles and telling a story. Thanks for the great information. All the best, Cheers Rick

    Great share. Two additional tips:
    1. Provided your camera has wifi, you can use the manufacturer's smartphone app to check if you are in focus while in the frame. I have a Panasonic and I can focus manually via the app as well.
    2. Turn on "Focus Peaking", this has been invaluable in giving me a sense of what is in focus. Instead of just relying on my vision, this feature highlights (you choose the colour) what is in focus. This way you have a very prominent indication of what is in focus and what is not.

I realize this is an older video, however the info provided is not dated. I just got myself my first full frame (a7iii) and have been wanting to explore doing short films with family or myself if I'm in a remote but beautiful area. However, I just didn't really know how to NOT make it look like a home video. This was an excellent and simple instructional. I even went back to search for your "reminder" video to watch, I watched it several times. It gives me encouragement :). Thank you! Off to watch more of your videos ...
