** Shinunoga E-Wa means "I would rather die". I couldn't fit that phrase in a melodic and rhyming way, so I captured the idea of that line. "I need you beside me like a flower needs the light, my baby, I just wouldn't be alive"- this is the spirit of "I would rather die". It's saying that he needs this woman like a flower needs light and without her he'd just be dead. Saying "I would rather die" in english undersells the emotional impact of what the song is saying by making it a clunky statement, rather than something poetic. I hope this helps ^^

for some reason i thought the entire time it said 'i would rather' but c'mon why isn't the english cover not at 1 or 2 mil likes we need to spread this mans angelic voice
It does say “i’de rather die” but they couldn’t fit those lyrics within the beat/rhythm (sorry if i git that wrong i have 0 education in songs)
for no education that was an accurate response
but yea ur right he/she/they says "i just wouldn't be alive" because it fits his/her/their version better. for example one English version does simply say "i'd rather die" whereas another, such as will stetson's, says "die and flutter free, love" with the "I'd rather die" right before it. they're all correct translations, just interpreted differently to fit the pulse or simply because they decided to change it to say that.
