d. r. dado the Bristol Channel looks like chocolate the whole year year round . 14-15m difference in the tides means there is always colour in the water .

Great video and fishing. You might want to check up on the size of the tides though, Canada has the two largest tides in the world. The second highest tide in the world in at Ungava Bay in Quebec and of course the highest is the Bay of Fundy which separates New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. On the New Brunswick side we also have the second largest whirlpool, the Old Sow, in the world. It is great fishing in some of the tidal rips particularly in a fishing kayak hooking up with large striped bass. Really enjoy your channel and enthusiasm.
Superb Bass. These massive tides are a pain I cant fish a lot of my marks it just gets to dangerous the water gets so violent.

I had a good one,although slow to start and a bit lumpy,the afternoon was great and I stumbled on a new fishing spot...now waiting for wind to go down so you may see me heading south on the A3 quite shortly.

I have watched a few vid's and would like to see some of which you can catch and put in a pan and eat it? Sharks, some yea most no...same with rays.. Kinda like carp fishing in front of my house.. I get plenty walleye but prefer good salt water fish..
Legend has it that someone tried fishing the Bristol channel in a boat on the outgoing tide...a year later he returned to his village with a keg of Guinness.

I get a 15ft tide where i am in maine, some of the best spots are at astronomical lows
Is it the little bit of the bay of fundy? I live in Nova Scotia but I think a portion of the bay touches Maine too

Even tho i'd rather watch "A Man Alone in a Boat" I'm glad you were able to get a day of fishing in w/out having to deal with all the hassles of launching and tending to your boat by yourself .

I only have one,its a 12lb class spinning rod,but tip had been snapped back.Mike had a 140lb Tarpon it it,plus I've had plenty of sharks over 100 with it.

I personally really only like Plaice. And the occasional Dab (both Flatfish)

of course its a bull huss, they have more solid heads, and thicker cheeks and lips than dogs, and that little whisker thing on either side of their mouth, thats how you can tell them apart! WOW what a massive bass, a monster, hope you didnt throw it back

Agree Totally- I sea bass fish in Cork harbor and more then half the fun is the fight and weighing them and releasing them . Seems humans greed in everything is taking the fun out of everything in life.

Graeme, could I contact you privately?, I have just bought a boat live near southampton. I used to live on I O W where I was in a deep sea fishing club had a 15' boat used to fish the overfalls fo pollock. I am now 76 and haven't really got time to find my own waypoints hence my writing this, could you please help a couple of seniors by giving a couple of marks nr s/ampton inshore no more than 3 to 4 miles out. I know that the black book is sacred and not to shared but you do seem an approachable bloke so I'm asking for your help. Hope you can help
I don't think I have ever fished Southampton so have not a clue...you need to contact somewhere Gosport fishing Club,I think they have a small boat section and may be able to help..good luck with it.
