I grew up in a small town in the Texas Hill Country a hundred miles northwest of San Antonio in the late '60s and early 70's. All we had was AM radio. KTSA and KONO played top 40 rock. KMAC had a stoner DJ that went deep into albums. He played the guitar gods and harder and longer songs, e.g., Inna Gadda Da Vida, War Pigs, ANYTHING Pink Floyd, etc. I drove home every day for lunch. I pulled up in our circular drive just as the DJ said, "For anyone still into time, it's 12:05. Let's get into twenty minutes of Rare Earth's Get Ready.," I ate a huge sandwich and drank a huge glass of tea in about fifteen minutes and started my car to head back to school so I could neck with my girlfriend for twenty minutes in the school parking lot. Get Ready was still blasting out of my windows when i pulled into the school parking lot. Good times.

This is a cut down version of the 23+ minute version on the album which was an edited cut down of the actual recording that was over hour just for this one song. This is from a double album recorded in Jacksonville, Florida. The double record set has 8 songs on 4 sides. The 23 minute cut is all they could fit on one side of one disc.

My feeling is that Rare Earth 71 line up changed what was a nice party song into a fabulous heavy groovy prog jewel... Guitar is sooooooo good !

One of the top five live albums in my opinion. I don't know why you split Get Ready into two parts, though.
