'We Don't Want God': Greg Laurie's Warning Amid Olympics Furor

- Greg Laurie, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in California, believes the strange events surrounding the Olympics this year have presented "a microcosm of what's not right in the world today." "They start off the Olympic ceremonies with the open mockery of the Last Supper, the painting by Leonardo da Vinci," Laurie told CBN News. "And then they deny that's what it was."
He juxtaposed the massive debacle over what many have taken as a drag-queen-driven mockery of the Last Supper against a report that Brazilian surfer Joao Chianca was reportedly forced to remove an image of Jesus from his surfboard before the Olympics began. "So, we can openly mock Christ here," Laurie said. "But you can't have any representation of Jesus on your surfboard ... everything's upside down."
The preacher said the "whole thing is just ridiculous," but emblematic of a broader problem unfolding in the culture at large. "This is ... really a representation of culture saying, 'We don't want God ... we're gonna openly mock God now, we're gonna make new rules, we're gonna define what a man is, what a woman is, what marriage is, and I'm gonna change everything,'" Laurie said. "And you have chaos as a result and you see it in the world; you see it in America."
The Harvest Crusade founder expressed his belief that the farther society gets from God, the more problems will develop - something he believes we're watching happen in real-time. Despite the troubles before us, Laurie reminded Christians of the "two secret weapons" in their arsenal: prayer and evangelism. "We need to use those weapons more," he said, encouraging people to pray for those who don't know the Lord. "We are in a spiritual battle, and the best thing in this spiritual battle is to gain ground, not just hold ground."
Laurie shared his comments while also discussing the powerful "Jesus Revolution" baptism his church recently held at Pirates Cove in California, a historic beach where baptisms have routinely unfolded in recent decades. Laurie said 2,000 people were baptized in one day-a stunning number that shows, despite culture's moral demise, God is still moving.

It was blasphemous. But we have to represent Christ to the world. We have to love (not reject or accept or be okay with) our enemies. We need to discuss TRUTH in Love! Christ is all about forgiveness. People with animosity toward the Gospel have been used and deceived by people who should have guided them lovingly to God’s truth. The only way we disarm that wrath is with kind words. I was angry about all this too. But God reminded me that I have been forgiven much.

200,000 people baptized at once in Philippines and it barely makes the news.
New is an agenda. We also didn't hear that the lights went out all over Paris after the mockery of the last supper. All but a church, there lights stayed on.

*I am on the Autism Spectrum.* One Thursday night at Prayer Meeting the Pastor verbally attacked me. He said in front of the congregation that I had been rude to his wife and the church pianist! Funny, his wife and in-laws and I talked for the longest time before the service, no one acted as if I had done anything! He never took me aside or mentioned anything until he was preaching that night.
He brought up language: he went on a rant that English only is to be spoken and it is exclusionary to speak anything else in the church. Never mind that two Philippino families habitually speak Tagalog there, and he forgot about when he recently called me over to help a visitor from the Ivory Coast who needed someone to speak French!
I never asked for any other language in the services, even though I speak perfect German as well as decent French. I mentioned that whispering in front of others is just as bad. He said he'd already addressed that, and I replied I hadn't heard him say anything about it.
He went on in the same vein; I got up, put my coat and hat on, and again, in front of the congregation he said "Leaving like a child!" At that point I'd had enough, and replied, "Resorting to name calling!"
As I left he, obviously angry, called out, " God bless you!"
I said nothing and left.
There are only liberal, non Bible believing churches in my area. I will have to find something online, I suppose. Maybe something in German!

Talk about a world upside down: They have to "close the doors" to Pastor Laurie's baptisms, but meanwhile, we leave our southern border doors wide open, to Lord knows what.
All I ever saw was people being baptized. I questioned what were they responding to. It was never shown. That’s for filling in a very important detail.
A decision to repent of their sins and invite Jesus into their lives. Baptism is a public display of the inward change.
We are saved by faith alone in Jesus, yes! But let us not forget to also show people Luke 9:23. If a person is TRULY born again he will deny himself, take up his cross and follow Jesus. Too many times I have seen people say the sinner's prayer and then never show any fruit of being born again. Yes people need to hear the full gospel! If there is no evidence (fruit) then quite possibly the person put his faith in the prayer he said and not in Christ.
