The only difference between the new and the old is the TFT screen and the fact that you can turn off only the rear ABS. Otherwise it's 100% identical (+ some LED signals) , from suspension to engine, all of it. That menu selector wheel it's a pain in the ass, after a few dusty off-road trips it's almost stuck. I've opened it and the system is so stupid, it's literally a bearing ball with a spring. If dust or water enters the cavity of the ball, it becomes really hard to press the button. There is a dongle that you can buy and use it to enable/disable ABS with the physical button in the left side of the screen and you never have to press the stupid wheel selector again. That dongle works for the old version too, you will be able to disable only the rear ABS and it also remembers the selection after you turn off the engine.

I'll have to check into dongles for my 24" T7. Thanks for the information.

I recently picked up a 24" T7. I really like the bike, I think it's better than I was hoping... that's probably because there are so many reviews saying how disappointed riders are compared to other bikes. Well, it falls right into what I've been looking for, an over-sized dirt bike that can handle the pavement well (much better than my 501) and is capable off-road, (Better than my 890 Adventure S model) with reliability and decent intervals between regular service. (once again better than a Husky/KTM 500/501)

      Congrats on the new bike!!
I’m interested in trying out a KTM 890 Adventure R to see how it compares

@@AdventureTomek You’ll like it,I’m sure. I’ve never ridden the R version but it’s the same bike except for suspension.
I’ll still take the T7, it just suits me better.

The reason the ABS wont stay off is because the EU mandated that it should always be turned back on every time the ignition is turned off and then back on again. Due to manufacturing constraints the same electronics are used across all models.

Figured it was something to do with EU regulations

The throttle response difference is probably your aftermarket exhaust/air filter

Is the T7 a easy enough to ride that it would make a good beginner bike? (Like a DR650 or DRZ?)

I got back into riding/ADV riding with a KLR650... but i've been on bikes since I was 12 years old. If you are a new riding, I recommend you start with a older bike, something you cheap. Once you get comfortable, get yourself something nicer.

The drz is awesome. I have one but the common these is to get a bigger bike with a 6th gear and fun injection.
I am going to upgrade for the t700 asap. I’m selling my 2019 drz first. I find myself wanting to do more road riding than trail riding.

Crazy how you can't hardly tell a difference in the two by looking at em.
