I agree with your statement about listening to your hair. I had locs for many years but decided to comb them out because I wanted to experience my hair in it's loose afro state. That only lasted about 5 months, lol. My hair did not like being combed and would tangle right back up so I listened to it and I'm loc'd again and it feels right ; )

I agree I have Mohawk dreads. I had first set, got hair lice so comb them out to get rid of lice natural way (no chemicals) then after 1 month of washing my hair every day sometime twice a day, I redressed my hair by just twisting and letting it be. Side not I just can’t seem to dream my sides, it gets very sweaty and itchy they so that’s why I have Mohawk.

My sprit is telling me it’s time to loc my hair. I had negative perceptions of locks as well, yet now I’m excited that I understand their true power for women of color. Thank u for this video more conformation

I stopped letting other people twist my locks because the Energy they left behind made me feel emotional depressed upset angry unhappy. Even tho I would get major complements on my hair my spirit wasn’t right afterwards. I would have headaches sometimes my head would itch and most people do it for the money not the love of what their doing for a living and spiritually I would feel that. So now I’m freefrom lol and I didn’t know that my hair was going to team up all together on me, so I had to separate a lot of my locks lol 😂 I almost had just three big locks I was like oh my Lol but I enjoy this journey

This European woman says to my husband yesterday, "Thank you for helping me. I know how yall are about your hair," when he helped her get some things out of her car. He said, "You don't know anything about my hair." She proceeds to send an email to the director of the region saying that he didn't want to help her because of his hair, and that he "sassed" her. I was like, that's that white people talk. She saw your hair as a threat and sign of resistance, so she put the call out to her people lol

The 9 Minds thats messed up. She is a negative hipocrite. Every culture is about their hair. Most just have an unhealthy view or use of products. I have irish hair and for years faught to rid my curls and how bad my hair would knot. Im glad some coworkers of mine recommended locking my hair and i did so much research and finally i stopped brushing. I am sending you and your husband glowing thoughts of love and prayers you never have to deal with that kind of negativety again.

Right on Right on and shalom my Nubian sistah I love that you realize the spirituality of wrapping your hair weather with locs or afro style I wrap my hair every day for my spiritual covering I feel safe with my head covered. I receive more positive energy with my head wrap it is now my trade mark. I've been on my loc journey for 7 years and also keeping my head wrapped. I would not trade this for anything. I am grateful for my awakening. May Yah continue to bless you and your family. Peace and abundant blessings, and Peace to the sisterhood.

I feel that my tight coils, always wrapping around a neighboring coil for dear life, begged to be locd. I've been SisterLocked since July and have loved every second of being so. I thought I'd miss the feel of my curl pattern, but the feel of my locs maturing is interesting and captivating...that's the only way I can think of that describes my locg experience and love I feel for them. Looking forward to your updates, and blissful energy in general :)

Thank you so much for this video. I've had natural hair since the 80's. I find myself consistently disappointed in the some natural hair vloggers who are oblivious to the political and health ramifications of the "natural hair journey." Basically, I'm finding the natural hair community incredibly vapid most times. So this video is a breath of fresh air!

  • @breevitae

i like you :) yes, hair is muy importante! i think most people who begin the natural hair transformation for the correct reasons will relate. expressing your natural self should not just be a trend to follow, you should feel it i your gut, your soul to transform. you should do it for good reasons, not just bc it is trending. specifically, i think locs are also apart of the spiritual evolution of self and hair. hair is vital. each strand is an antenna, connecting you more and more to unseen. the Creators. :) great work, my seastar. keep spreading light and love.

Blessings Sista!!! This video was 100% on time and wonderfully detailed and completely accurate in the sense that, we absorb energies through our tresses. The more we are aware of this and how to protect ourselves, the healthier and more in tuned we become. I had been a lose natural since 1989, but I would hot comb/ flat iron my hair and use other heat based tools to alter the natural texture of my hair. Although my hair could revert back to it's natural state, there was still the attachment to assimilating into the Western cultural perception of beauty. About 6 years ago, I decided that I was no longer going to use any form of heat or anything else to alter the natural texture of my hair. As a loose natural, I was experimenting and searching for the right combination of organic hair care products, hairstyles, wraps etc. I learned to install crochet braids, Senegalese twists, you name it , I could do it. I didn't know exactly what I was looking for, but I was determined to find my "true self". So, I was still searching for that one hairstyle that could help to ground me and point me in the right direction. About a year ago, I experienced an epiphany if you will. I decided to install and maintain small locs. Literally , the moment I started the process... my father told me that he knew that I had finally found myself. And he was so very correct. Everything just clicked, and I am able to experience and live life more organically. I am also able to avoid and abate toxic energies and pernicious individuals. So, to conclude... thank you for sharing . Because it is so refreshing to see that there are more people like yourself connecting with the ancestors and the Gods!!! One Love.

Yes, Stumbled upon your video. Everyone is doing stylish dreads, or the new fad, Freeform dreads.Have been natural since 1980 now 57 years old. Did the big chop every 5 years . I was never spritual with my journey to lock, nor ate the proper meals because I could not commit, so I stayed with the basics ,kept my hair natural and never locked. So funny to see so many people dreading, have no clue as to what it really means. There is a history behind being dread. I could go on, and on but hope everyone understands my point.

I have always loved the way locs looked.... It's been about a year now that I stared looking into dreads but I been saying it for years .... And finally I decided to do my own.... I originally wanted someone to do it but I felt I'd feel more connected if I did them myself.
And I get the whole head wrape too. I also feel more protected when I wear mine.... And my hair tells me if I'm healthy or not. Buy I think I will be wrapping my hair a lot more.

My husband has had locs since 2008 and my 12 year old daughter since 2013. About 2 years ago I started contemplating locs. My hair is thin and it was cut short. So I started letting it grow, eventually it was long enough. This pass April I went to get locs. It has been a journey that I wish I could have done sooner. It is such a relief not to worry about my hair defining who I was not.
