韓国の6人組ガールズグループ「GFRIEND（ジーフレンド）」が10月11日、池袋サンシャインシティ噴水広場（東京都豊島区）で、日本初シングル「Memoria／夜」の発売記念イベントを行った。「キャー！」「可愛い！」という歓声に応えて2曲をパフォーマンス。集まった約2000人を熱狂させた。
GFRIENDは、2015年に韓国でデビュー。グループ名には「彼氏には愛しい彼女」「すべてを打ち明けられる親しい友人になりたい」「いつも一緒にいるようないい音楽でみんなのそばにいたい」という意味が込められている。今年5月にアルバム「今日から私たちは～GFRIEND 1st BEST～」で日本デビューを果たした。
イベントでは、メンバーが自己紹介するたびに歓声が上がった。韓国で4月に発売した「夜」のパフォーマンスでは、ファンが一緒に歌ったり、合いの手を入れて盛り上げていた。日本オリジナル楽曲「Memoria」の披露前には、メンバーが振り付けをレクチャー。日本語で「一度、やってみましょう！」「やすい（優しい）です！」とファンに呼びかけた。さらに、4日が21歳の誕生日だったというメンバーのユジュさんをサプライズバースデーケーキで祝福する場面もあり、ファンがそろって韓国語でバースデーソングを歌い、メンバーたちを感激させていた。

Japanese buddy are the best they actually learned how to sing happy birthday in korean just for yuju's birthday and for the group gfriend this honestly makes me proud to be a buddy and i'm even from the u.s. so this is honestly a beautiful thing, this shows that no matter where us buddies are in the world we would do anything for our stars like even learning korean for them even if its just a simple word like saranghae i can't wait for them to be famous in the u.s. hopefully when that time comes i will definitely go to their concert

That's why twice are so popular in japan because they have Japanese members who can talk freely with hosts and on TV shows.... it really makes a difference because the fans can feel closer to the members and it feels like the members understand the culture
