Hey Sped, I was wondering if you could do an updated video on your recording setup? I would love to start recording some covers myself and your covers are the best on youtube (in my humble opinion ofcourse :p)

It's great to see someone giving Led Zeppelin some serious attention. I was mesmerized by them at a young age and 50 years later they still boggle my mind.
Reading through the comments, I think everyone else said what I was thinking on this one. As much as it may get tiresome doing lesson videos on 50-year old songs, I can tell you we all greatly appreciate it!! Thanks Sped, and 'hey' to Gab. To quote yourself, everyone needs a Gab.
Hey! Nice to see a continuation of this tutorial. This tune is definitely worthy of further analysis. The theory behind your selections are always a nice touch as well. Thanks!
Cool, thanks so much! Glad you liked the next part. It’s not been as popular as the other video so I guess people prefer the main riff. I hope more make it over to watch!
…I don’t why. The opening riff is definitely cool, but this section is where the band starts cooking. There’s a lot of interesting stuff going on here.
I love the addition of the what and why he’s putting in fingers on what strings and frets! It’s so easy to get caught up in what string and fret do I hit next and lose sight of the what and why. Thanks for adding the theory in!
Sped, you are so freakin classy! Great production value. Awesome content. Another winner from your vast inventory of licks, tricks and knowledge of the fretboard. Looking forward for future installments.
I hope so too! She really is a wonderful teacher. People will be able to see from the select videos that she’s got on her channel. I hope she gets a few more enquiries. ❤️
Hi Sped, the whole song is such genius, possibly Zep at their best? JPJs bass underpinning Bonhams fills and transition or whatever drummers call them, Plants down and dirty vocals and then Jimmy. Possibly, possibly my favourite Zeppelin song...hmm.mm. My favourite bit is at 4.38 when Page transitions from the pentatonic major to the minor with that little D.11, G9, D11 etc lick and the little solo following. That sections got me since I first heard this song back in the early 70s. Anyway thanks for the video, you're a superstar.
I absolutely love your tasteful playing and passion for the guitar. Your wonderful british accent reminds me of Ritchie Blackmore, who I bet is one of your heroes!
Yeah the bass in this song is absolute filth. 🤣 I imagine he just improvised the whole thing knowing the form perfectly and all the tricks and fills he was capable of.
Love ❤️ the groove in this song, I I’ve been listening to it since it was new in 69 at 8 years old, the neighbors were teenagers and they’re little sister was my age and she introduced Led Zeppelin ll to me of course I had no idea the song wasn’t about lemons, why would you fall out of bed? She might have known ! Anyway, I play it on the guitar now.😮 Thanks Sped ,delightful lesson.
I'm actually really impressed and appreciative of your tutoring (pro gratis).Without doubt ,and I've spent many nights researching, your Page licks are pretty spot on. What a monumental task as Page was well known for his off the cuff impro, ok it's based around pentatonic licks and blues, but with timing etc etc etc goes far beyond giving him, his Original sound which shaped modern music in both UK and America. Any chance of doing some of Jimmy's highly inventory stuff of Song remains the same.❤
Thank you! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my insights here. Yes, he used the pentatonic a lot when soloing, but many times he dives into richer in harmony. He’s a very clever player. I’d like to think that a lot of the special riffs and runs in solos that leave us baffled are from hours of experimentation as opposed to magically producing it first time. It’s magic either way, but I feel like Page worked very hard to craft his music.
Sped, Robert Plant’s “Hurting Kind (I’ve Got My Eyes On You)” is highly overlooked. Its main riff and rhythm guitar are so great. It would be interesting to see you dig into this one.
My Google maps took me past Jimmy's mansion in Holland Park a few days ago. There were some plasterers waiting outside. I slowed down and gave them the Horned One hand gesture, they laughed. I work around there all the time and will always take the cut by his abode just in case...
Fantastic prattle as always Sped👍👍 Definitely need all the help I can get over on your patron 💯 Yous definitely many many notches above me 😳😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks so much for your help. Congrats to GABS on her venture. Wishing her all the best👍👍😎
I’m feeling pa-FEH-eck (pathetic). More lemonade, please!🍋🍋🍋 This is one of the first songs I “learned”. Revisiting after 20-some years. Would love more of your classic Sped insights on this one!
Always enjoy your lessons... Pretty sure this song is a great example of "rip someone off"... Howlin' Wolf's Killing Floor. The solo plays homage to Hubert Sumlin and his sixths.
I have no idea why I'm doing it but as a drummer I'm now obsessed with learning blues/rock guitar to at least some form of performance level (which could well be an audience of one but it still counts as a level). Also cohabitating with a British Lit major only mine more or less worships Jimmy like a god. So that makes you my new guitar guru. Sorry in advance. Amazing skill at explaining it all in small bite sized bits, which is the only way in which I can learn things anyway. Cheers from Seattle.
You're super welcome! I also live with an English Lit major, haha. So does Jimmy I think... I love that you're branching out into the melodic/harmonic world. All your years mastering rhythms will be your best friend. If I had the space and was detached I reckon I'd have a kit for playing around on.
I ain't looking for no axe battle but on that descending V IV I V turnaround part would it make more sense, theoretically, to think of the 7th as a dominant 7 rather than minor 7? How i wish this kind of resource would have been around 30 years ago when i was trying to be Jimmy.
I’m talking about the interval in the Dominant 7th chord! As in Root, Maj 3rd, Perfect 5th and Minor 7th. Combined you get a Dominant 7th chord. We agree! 👏🏻
if we promise to learn the mechanics (i refuse to call it theory which applies to how they choose the frequencies, and build scales), will you throw some tabs on the screen? good lesson either way. ☮️❤️🌍🌎🌏
@@SpedSpedding seriously im literally practicing bring it on home and Achilles last stand from your videos right now multiple monitors going! and you and Sophie are killing it in the new band!! I love learning from you guys even if your young enough to be my grandkids :P
@@SpedSpedding No not 24 frets. I should’ve made myself a little more clear. The pattern you’re playing on the 12th 14th and 16th frets over the one chord gets shifted up to the 17th 19th and 21st frets over the four chord… You can hear his finger fretting the 21st fret of the high E string… not criticizing, you’re playing great just coming from an old guy that’s been infatuated with Jimmy since I first saw Zeppelin in 72!

When the video started I thought what is Gab? Then when Gabriella appeared I was like cool she is promoting it too. Yes I am that thick!! Excellent cross promotion and I am in favour of it as it is something (someone) you definitely believe in!!
Haha like it was an abbreviation of a learning software or something? 😂 Amazing. And yes I truly believe in her and always will; she’s a fantastic teacher.

You can get anything with a bit of repetition. Maybe line it up with a click and understand when you should be playing in relation? One thing I love about Moises is the fact the AI generates a click to the song even if it was never recorded to one. 🔥
I love your instructive style, and your emphasis on WHY something works, and "why it's important to understand what you're playing"... however... you leave out perhaps the most important reason to understand what you're playing... That prompted me to seek out blues albums, which led me to Hubert Sumlin who was a monster guitarist, and who the Wolf once fired and would only re-hire him if he gave up using a pick. I loved Sumlin so much that the only time he was anywhere near my town, I was watching my toddler son, and didn't want to miss it, so I loaded up my son's wagon, and dragged him to the blues festival... 2 years old and he saw the great Hubert Sumlin with him blues junkie dad. ANYWAY.... I hope you think not only about the great music we listen to, but also HOW that music came to be... without the blues greats, there would be no Led Zeppelin. Top-notch work you're doing, I really enjoy it. Keep 'em comin'!!! Thanks again!!!
Whinged it live yes , but in the studio he nailed it , of course the cocaine in the 1970’s was a hell of a drug ! But honestly , it took all 4 of them to create this monster of rock , of which many bands copied for years !
