Yeah, years ago I perceived some of Jimmy's playing as a bit defective or sloppy. I have since realized he is expressing a kind of controlled chaos and it's vital. Same with Alex Lifeson's early solos. Chaos is expressive. Glad you're feeling better!

Glad your back on your feet, hope Gab is okay too. I was going over this a while back and done a fair bit of improvising with it, it's crazy and brilliant, think I will come back to it now that you have broke it down nicely, so coming back from the dead do we now address you as Lazarus ? 😂
Thanks Victor, yeah she was fine this time around. Had it twice previously and I caught nothing, roles reversed this time. And yes, obviously it is now a new requirement that everyone refers to me as Lazarus.
Hi Sped, if I’m having a hard time remembering what you’re instructing, how can I get better used to knowing the patterns of notes without getting confused. I’m used to playing by ear say like simple blues and like Chuck Berry style of playing however, when I try to follow your explanations, I’m a bit slow. Where can I start to allow myself a better foundation for understanding the scales on how the notes are playing out? Sorry for asking. So like I can understand when you’re going up and down the frets. Guess I’m like memorizing what I see to how it sounds but not knowing where the next patterns could be. Say the theory behind your playing. Thanks for your patience and time you share with us.
I like the Heartbreaker BBC edition. In the 2nd solo, it really feels like they left the song and started a jam session. Then they come back to the song.
Thanks for the great video, I sub'd! I think there are quite a few missing notes in that first run up. I could never decipher them myself. People say Jimmy plays sloppy, and maybe this is an example of that. i wish i could play that sloppy. When the big chords hit later in the solo, there are also a bunch of missing notes that are near impossible to make out in the zep recording.
Hi from Hawaii, really enjoy your videos. I wonder if you have any ideas for someone with dyslexia who’s trying to learn solos. I can pick up chords easily because I see shapes well, but with solos, I get all mixed up. Are there shapes that can form solos?
You’d want to be practicing A pentatonic major and A pentatonic minor; also run A Blues scale. If you learn those scales/notes/positions across the fretboard you may find it easier. I do play the solo in full twice so you could also try slowing my video down to copy?
I was doing great up to the tone and a half bend on B at the tenth. By the way there might be a guy with a hat and glasses secretly living in your house and insinuating himself into your videos. That can happen. Check behind the sofa. Excellent video as ever. I'm up to the bend on B at 13, that is beautiful!

LETS GOOO Edit: Now I see you’re talking about the second solo. Would you say the first solo is near impossible to learn?
I’d say NOTHING is impossible to learn. I actually prefer this solo to the other one as well. I feel like the phrasing is more intentional and there’s more energy and attitude. 🔥
@@SpedSpedding Yeah this solo is definitely great! Will learn soon, just finished hotel California solo and my fingers ache badly 😂Good to have you back Sped I missed you!

That’s great, hope I did it justice in that case!
@@SpedSpedding thou didst well, lad...:-) nuff said....haha...
Brilliant as usual :) Thank you so much !
You’re so welcome! 🙌🏻
@@SpedSpedding Are you planning to record a " Since I've been lovin' you " lesson one day ? I hope you will :)
The mad man actually did it holy
Haha, straight off the back of the virus. No other option. 😂
Missed ya! Bloody 'vid! Good to see the consummate Pagey maestro back!
Missed you all too! Thank you! 🙌🏻
I recently bought that book because of your readings!
How you getting on with it? 👌🏻
@@SpedSpedding Super! I was interested in recreating some sounds from some Physical Graffiti songs and it was helpful.
Thanks for the great video lesson!
Glad to see your back, Sped. Speedy recovery ❤️🩹 I love this jam. You rock it well!
Thanks Erick! Back to my best now. 🤞🏻
Luv U sir, beautiful lesson!
Any chance that you can do the first solo ?
The best guitar teacher, with the coolest hair.
Hard not to love this comment Shawn! Haha, thanks so much.
Aye Aye Captain! I'm following your orders. Well navigated!
Excellent!
Thank Gawd. I WAS worried. Cheers mate 🤙🤙🤙
Thank you Gerry!
best lessons on yt
Thank you so much! That’s huge. 💪🏻
Sped I am so sorry you were sick. I hope you are ok now.
Thanks for that! Feeling much better now as you can see. 🙌🏻🔥
I know, I think his name is Stephen Grant. 🤷🏻♂️
Awesome lesson and details. What pickups in the Les Paul?
57 PAFs from The Buzztone. Check out the video I made on the swap.
Love you like a brother man... please, take all the time you need. I'll be waiting
Thank you! Appreciate the lovely words. I’m back to normal now and ready to go. 🔥❤️
Glad you’re feeling better. I had it early on, and it wasn’t fun.
Well done for showing it who’s boss. 💪🏻🔥
Hey Sped, did I miss something or did you never do the first part of the solo of Heartbreaker??
You’re hilarious dude.
Keep Spedding!
Haha thanks I will!
Nice one, Sped ...very nice indeed!
Who is Chris?
Called you (cough) Chris there ... humph, sorry
@@SpedSpedding Don't know ...some bloke?
@@LeeMcDaidDonegal 😂😂😂 Get it all the time. Even after I interview him proving we’re not related I still get it. Hilarious.
Oh my god!! SPED IS BACK WITH A VENGEANCE!!! AND WITH SOME ZEP??? OH MY GOD. I tried learning the heartbreaker solo and deemed it way too fast🤣 Lord Sped maybe can show me the way! LETS GOOO
Edit: Now I see you’re talking about the second solo.
@@jakewaldman6243 I mean that solo right from the off is putting your fingers through it in terms of bends isn’t it! 😂
Forgot to tell you I’m glad you’re feeling better. Aloha!
Sorry for the belated flowers 🌹🌼🌻🌺, glad your feeling better 😊
Thank you Captain! 🔥
Thank you for that!
My pleasure!
