    Will our SUP touring expert and Georgie, take 2 Bluefin 14' Sprint boards for a mini overnight adventure. The ideal opportunity to compare the standard Bluefin Sprint and the Sprint Carbon. Both boards are exactly the same specifications but the constructions, packages and overall stiffness are different. We hope this video helps you have a better understanding of each of these boards, and if they're right for you and your paddling.

    Supboarder reviews are the biz, always have a really conclusive look at all the things we need to know, well filmed and give a really rounded view of the products. Thanks so much for all your work 🤙

    love the review. im having trouble deciding between this and the Blackfin model V i do fish some but also just love to paddle. Mostly I paddle on lakes and some lazy rivers.

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Daniel. The Model V is a wider board at 32 wide. Which may be better for fishing and with more gear too. But if you are paddling more than fishing the Sprint will be a faster board to paddle being 30" wide.
      Other way to look at it is if you are 85KG plus I would say the Model V would be the one, but if you are 85KG and down the Sprint could be the better option. It's always a compromise between speed and stability. I hope that helps? thanks Reuben.

    I have the 12 carbon cruise and love it, despite its weight!! They look, and are, bullet proof. And yes, the handle is in the wrong place on the 12 also.

    After watching your reviews I opted for the 12ft carbon for myself due to being 15 st and my girlfriend opted for the normal 10ft 8. Went for bluefin as they look like they will take many years of use.

    you mentioned the kayak seat possibility. My 12' has a seat but I don't find the need for it. I sit, combination of legs straight out and seated cross legged, and kayak that way. no complaints either way.

    Great review - thanks! Would you be able to do the occasional race on the Sprint? How does it fare in terms of race speed? I know the quick turn could be an issue with the stomp pad location but could it work for a racing scenario?

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could definitely get into a few races with the Sprint board. The extra weight will make the board slightly slower off the start line but it will keep more momentum through your paddle stroke. Make sense? thanks Reuben

    re: center fin for shallow water, I'm pretty sure the iRocker river fin would fit in the standard Bluefin Sprint. As far as the US fin box, I am sure there are river fins available generally.

    I’m very much a beginner in terms of paddle boarding although I’ve hired them out a few times.
    I’m in the market for an iSUP for some touring and was torn between the 12’ Cruise Carbon and the 14’ sprint Carbon.
    I guess the 12’ would be easier to handle being a beginner but I’d like the space on the 14’. Would you say it’s much more difficult to stand on the 14 than the 12?

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Stuart, the 12' is a wider board so will offer you more stability. Depending on your weight the 12 will be easier to use but for many paddlers weighing up to 90kg the Sprint will paddle pretty easy also. Thanks Reuben

    thx. great review as always including deflection numbers. better even. perhaps the 14, either one, will be on Black Friday special pricing starting Monday. To be honest I'm not sure I could handle the add'l weight of the C14... especially if carrying inflated down a long path or down stairs to get to the water. I do OK with the inflated standard 12' at 32.8 lbs, but I have to pay a lot of attention to getting the balance just right. Also with kayak seat, extra blade, leash, fins and pump, the backpack weight is 41-42 lbs. for the 12 standard. With the 14 (if packed with kayak seat and extra blade), it must be 46ish for standard and 51ish lbs for Carbon.
    PS "Everything is a compromise" ... I think you mean tradeoff. PPS... would be helpful if you could weigh the paddles as that information is rarely given by the mfg on their product spec sheet. I have measured my Drive paddle at .. oh my, I have forgotten but I think it was 32 oz. I have a fixed full carbon paddle at 22 oz, so the difference is quite noticable.

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Larry, Thanks for all your comments and feedback. Yes I agree with you I think the 14 in standard construction will be absolutely fine for most paddlers unless they are on the higher weight of 110 kg plus.
      Thanks for mentioning about the paddles we will look into doing this into the future. As the weights can vary quite a lot between brands and paddles. Thanks Reuben

    Good video, no life jackets or buoyancy aids, is that your preference?

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andrew, this was our preference at the time and our experience + knowledge helped to make that decision. Of course, this video is a couple of years old and we now wear buoyancy aids every time we go paddling. We always recommend paddlers wear a form of buoyancy aid now and you will see our videos now reflect this. Hope this clears it up. Thanks, Beau

    Great review, I currently have the bluefin 12 carbon and I’m very interested in the 14 carbon. Do you think it’s worth changing to the 14? I paddle a fair distance in the sea and I love my 12 but not sure if changing to the 14 would be of much benefit? I guess I’d get a bit more speed from the 14 but will it be much of a difference? I love bluefin tho and recommend them to everyone!
    Also just to add with the bag and the wheels, Iv used a few time and worn a hole in the front pocket of the back! I feel like the wheels have been put on the wrong side, or the could have put a handle the same side as the wheels so you can hold it slightly more upright so it doesn’t drag as I put the pump in the front pocket, other than that the kit is perfect!

      Great feedback! Thanks.
      You will get a lot more glide from a 14ft and it is noticeable for sure. Only if you feel you need to upgrade to a slightly faster board, you should, but the 12'6 is still a fairly fast and good board too. Hope thats helps. Beau

    Is there any risk of damage when you carry the pump like this on your deck? My friend intend to keep it in a special long dry bag.

    Could 2 fit people, experienced paddlers who weigh 130 kg combined comfortably ride 1 single Sprint 14 board together (both paddling)

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oooh great question. It would be tough as it’s fairly narrow and you’re maxing out the weight load, but I’d say it could be done for experienced paddlers. Tricky to know exactly - if you have paddled tandem before and keep a good rhythm then it could be good. Hope that helps

    At 4:18, the lever doesn't need to be lifted up before engaging the fin: it will pop up by its own when the fin is pushed down. 😉

    • @larrydunn4626
      @larrydunn4626 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my 12', which I've had for two weeks now, has a center fin box that is a little glitchy. The lever will NOT pop up the way the side fin levers do. I have to lift up the lever, fully seat the fin, then push the lever down quite aggressively to get it almost fully engaged, but not completely. It doesn't quite make it down flat. I'm monitoring that to see if I lose a fin at some point. so far, so good.

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree 👍🏼 but like Larry has said sometime they are a little tight. if so a little bit of sanding on the back of the fin does allow them to fit much better. Thanks for the comment Reuben
